Carmen smiled to herself as she sat in her room, snuggled in a blanket as she remembered the comfortable ride she had had with Taylor to her house. Ever since they had talked about keeping the baby, the two had gotten closer. And that made what Carmen was going through feel a bit easier.
Her thoughts were broken when she heard her phone ringing. She placed the cup of hot chocolate she had been drinking on her bedside table and picked up her phone.
"Hello," she said.
"Carmen, it's me."
Her lips immediately turned into a smile as she heard Taylor's familiar voice. She opened her mouth to say something but he continued to speak.
"Do you think you can come to my parent's house tomorrow? They want to meet you."
Her smile immediately disappeared. She quickly began to panic as she thought about meeting his parents. But even though she felt like this, she pushed down her feelings and replied, trying her best not to allow her panic to be heard.
"Um, sure."
"Great, I'll text you the details. See you tomorrow," he replied.
"See you."

The next day, she stood before the door of the Hill residence after she had rung the bell. Thankfully, she didn't have to wait outside in the cold for long before it was opened for her. She smiled as she looked at Taylor dressed semi-casually as he stood before her.
"Hey," she said, feeling her nerves return.
"You look amazing," was the first thing he said. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from giggling as she felt her cheeks heating up.
"Is that Carmen?" they heard someone say. And within a few moments, a woman who looked similar to Taylor appeared beside him.
"Hello Mrs. Hill," Carmen greeted immediately. Taylor's mother smiled as she looked at her.
"Hello Carmen, it's nice to finally meet you. Why don't you come in?"
She entered the home and took off her coat as Taylor closed the door behind her. He took her jacket from her and hung it onto the hanger before he led her into the living room where other people were gathered. They all turned to face them as his mother introduced her to everyone.
They all greeted her in unison shortly before Mrs. Hill invited everyone into the dining room for dinner.
---
After they had finished eating, Taylor's mother asked Carmen to help her send the dishes into the kitchen. She smiled slightly as she nodded her head. She picked up some plates and followed her as she entered the kitchen, making her way to the sink and placing the dishes inside. She walked towards the sink as well and almost stopped when Mrs. Hill spoke.
"Since no one's here, I can finally ask you what I wanted to ask. And that is: why did you do it?" Taylor's mother asked her, gaining her attention. Carmen placed the plates in the sink before turning to face her.
"What do you mean?"
Mrs. Hill laughed mirthlessly.
"Don't play dumb with me. Why did you seduce my son? What did you want─to ruin his future or did you want money?"
"I don't know what you're talking ab─"
Before she could finish what she was saying, Mrs. Hill's hand made contact with her face as a loud sound filled the room. Carmen felt her eyes sting as her hand went to rest on her warm cheek.
"Now I don't know what you have planned but whatever it is, I want you to stop. I don't care how you do it but I want you out of Taylor's life─FOR GOOD. UNDERSTAND?"
She couldn't say or do anything as she watched the older woman walk out of the kitchen.
When she saw that his mother had disappeared, she rushed towards the washroom and closed the door behind her, immediately feeling her knees buckle beneath her. Shortly after, she was on the floor, crying.
She didn't how long she was in the washroom crying. But before she could get herself together and leave, the door opened. And although she was scared to look at who it was, she looked up.
"So this is where you've been hiding," Taylor said slightly playfully. Carmen attempted to smile but that only caused more tears to fall.
She placed her head on her knees and continued to cry. However, when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her, she looked up again only to find Taylor on the floor with her as he pulled her to him.
"What are you doing?" she asked through the tears.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm trying to comfort you."
