Four months later

"Carmen, can you come here?" Taylor called from the kitchen of their small apartment, causing her to log out of Facebook before walking towards his voice. From where she had been sitting, she could smell a lovely aroma accompanied by the occasional sizzle from the stove.

"Is it ready?" she asked as she walked, placing her hand on her back.

She was about a week away from the predicted due date and she was finding it incredibly hard to walk especially if she had been sitting down for a long time.

In the last four months, so much had changed as her pregnancy progressed. They had gone from living in Abby's apartment to getting their own. And in the process, she had stopped going to her classes as it got harder for her to walk without feeling any pain on her spine.

When she entered the kitchen, she couldn't ignore the delicious smell which surrounded her as Taylor walked to the small dining table with two plates in hand. He placed a plate before each of the chairs before quickly helping her to her chair. She smiled as he held onto her hand tightly while she lowered herself into the chair.

When she was seated, he walked to the other side of the table and sat down too.

"I can't believe it took you almost two hours to make this," she told him.

"Well I can't serve you undercooked food, what about our baby?" he replied. She couldn't help but to laugh wholeheartedly at his words, to which he grinned happily.

"Enough talking Carmen, have a bite and tell me what you think." She nodded her head and picked up her fork, scooping the food which looked and smelled delicious.

However, as soon as she placed it in her mouth, she wasn't sure how to react.

"How is it?" he asked, expectantly. She swallowed and took a large sip of water.

"It's... Edible."

"That's it?"

She didn't say anything as she watched him take a bite of his pasta and alfredo. She had to use all the strength she had not to laugh as he winced.

"Maybe I went a little too heavy on the salt," he said, pushing his plate aside. She nodded and finally laughed. He smiled at her and reached for her hand, holding it tightly.

"I'll be right back, let me grab some food," he told her. She smiled and nodded her head before she watched him leave their apartment after ordering take out.

While he was gone, she decided to clean up the dishes he had used to cook and while she was in the middle of washing the dishes, she began to feel different. She couldn't tell what it was but somehow, she didn't feel the same.

And a few moments later, she felt wetness on the floor between her feet. As soon as she looked at it, realization dawned on her as Taylor entered the room.

"Taylor, my water just broke," she told him as she began to panic.

"What do you mean 'your water just broke'?"

"The baby is coming—"

"What? That can't be right. You're not due until—"

"Taylor!" She screamed as she began to feel labour pains.

After ten hours of labour, Carmen was finally able to hold her child in her arms. She couldn't stop smiling as she looked down at the little girl crying before her eyes.

She couldn't contain her own tears as she lightly stroked the baby's cheek with her finger, smiling from ear to ear.

"She's beautiful," she heard Taylor say from where he stood beside her. She looked at him and smiled.

"Thank you, Carmen," he said suddenly.

"What for?" she asked.

"For letting me see our beautiful baby."
