An eerie silence surrounded them as Carmen sat beside Taylor in the small room, anxiously waiting for the DNA results. And although she knew that it would come out positive, she was slightly worried to get the results because she didn't know how he would react.
She subconsciously bounced her left leg as she heard footsteps getting closer to the door. Within moments, the door opened to reveal the woman who had done the test with an envelope in hand. She smiled slightly before closing the door behind her and taking her seat behind the desk. She placed the envelope on the table and intertwined her hands before addressing them.
"Are you ready for the results?" They didn't say anything and only watched her as she opened it.
"Mr. Hill, it is a 99.99% match. You are the father of the child."
Upon hearing that, Carmen turned to face Taylor and noticed how pale he suddenly looked. He didn't say anything to her and only thanked the doctor before leaving the room. Carmen forced a smile before thanking her and leaving as well.
"Taylor," she called out to him as she saw him walking away. But he didn't stop and only continued. She followed him until they left the building before calling out to him again.
"Taylor!"
He turned around, looking confused. She opened her mouth to speak again but stopped when he spoke.
"Can you find a way back? I have to go now."

She pulled her head away from the toilet bowl as her nausea decreased, wiping her mouth and breathing heavily. The bathroom door opened to reveal Abby as she walked inside and sat beside her on the floor of their bathroom.
"How're you feeling?" her best friend asked.
"Horrible─" was all she could manage to say before her nausea returned, causing her to lean towards the bowl again. She felt her hair move as Abby removed it from her face, rubbing her back soothingly as she continued to heave. It didn't take long before she began to feel better again, sitting back down.
"Are you feeling better now?" Abby asked her. She nodded her head before attempting to stand with the help of her friend. She rinsed her mouth at the sink before they walked towards the kitchen.
"I'll make you a cup of ginger tea. That's what Emma drank when she went through her pregnancy," Abby said, referring to her older sister. She smiled slightly at the offer as they continued to make their way to the kitchen.
Once they got there, she sat down while Abby walked towards the stove, got out the ginger and began to make the tea. And within a few moments, they were both seated at the dining table, each with a cup of tea in hand.
"So have you talked to Taylor?" Abby asked her, taking a sip of her drink.
"Not since the hospital," she replied.
"You can't keep avoiding each other, it's not going to make it go away. You need to sit down and talk about how you're going to handle this because you can't do it alone."
"I know," she said solemnly, "but I don't know. I feel like he'll want to find a way to get rid of the baby."
"Are you saying that you want to keep it?"
Although she hadn't given it as much thought as she should have, she knew that she didn't want to go that route. The last thing she ever wanted was to take away another person's life. And since it was an unborn child, she felt even worse about it. And because of that, she held on to the small hope of Taylor agreeing with her. But even so,
"I don't know," was all she could say.
