I remember the first time we kissed
Your lips ghosting across mine like a feather
Hesitantly
Hoping for a response
And as I got more confident
And pressed my lips against yours more firmly
Your dainty yet strong hands
Wrapped around my hips
Pulling me closer
Holding me tight
I felt like I finally found my home.

It was like discovering sunlight
For the very first time
After spending your life in a darkened cave.
It was like all of the puzzle pieces
Had finally clicked together.
It was like rain pouring down
After a four year drought
During blistering heat.
Like the stars had finally appeared
In my barren sky
And they were aligning
Just for you.

It felt like hours
Though in reality it was only seconds
Before our lips parted.
Your soft gray eyes were bright and glossy
The biggest of smiles etched across your face
And I knew that my smile was just as big.

We stayed like that for a while
Just holding each other tightly
And smiling brightly
Neither one daring to move.
And as if things could not get more perfect
A shooting star dances across the sky
And you whispered to me to make a wish
So I did.

But sadly not all wishes come true.
