It had been a week since Charlie had playfully insinuated that he and Riley were together. He hadn't meant to ask Riley to be his girlfriend that way, he thought she would be surprised and deny that they were anything more than just dating, instead she acted as if he had asked her before hand. He'd been confused about it until she told them all she like him, Charlie, since the dance. It was unbelievable, here he was worried about Friar, mean while Friar should have been worried about him. Lucas had been so confident at the dance it must have been a huge blow that Riley liked him in a different way. Then again he did seem to be really into Maya. So maybe this is how everything should be. Charlie looks up from his notes to look at Riley, they were in history class and she was sitting in her usual seat up front, looking adorable. Maya was telling her something when Riley turned to look at Charlie a shy smile on her face. Charlie smiled back.
"Charlie do you have something to say to Riley?" Cory asked.
"Nope."
"He might have something to say to you though." Maya said to Cory with a grin.
"Maya!" Riley said.
"What you do!" He looked back and forth between Riley, Charlie, and Lucas not know who had won his daughter's heart.
"Nothing sir. I just asked Riley to be my girlfriend."
"Girlfriend!"
"Yeah dad, Charlie is my boyfriend." Riley said.
"Boyfriend!"
"Yes that's correct sir." Charlie said with a grin, " I care very much for your daughter, she's everything."
"Thank you Charlie." Riley said.
"It's only the truth gorgeous."
"Gorgeous!"
"Yes!" The whole class said in unison.
"Ok," Cory said to himself, " I can live with that. Charlie, I'm glad you spoke up for what you wanted. Good luck and take care of my daughter... Or I will get ya!"
"I believe you sir, Riley is in great hands."
"Ooh hands." Maya says.
"Don't make this weird Maya."Cory said.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute!" Lucas says getting up from his seat.
"What Friar? What could you possibly want now." Charlie asked annoyance lacing his voice.
"Sir when I asked Riley out you chased me out of the classroom. You refused to let me go out with Riley even when I asked for permission. Why aren't you chasing him out?" Lucas asked incredulously, pointing towards Charlie.
"Look chachi I like you and I like Charlie ok but you gatta admit Charlie, he's got you beat. He's quiet. I like that, so I like him. blah get over it."
"Blah" Lucas and Maya say playfully as Lucas takes his seat.
"That was adorable, you're  adorable..." Lucas says, Maya laughs at the compliment.
"Thanks, you're adorable too. I'm glad we're getting comfortable with each other again huckleberry."
"Me too."
"Hey huckleberry's mine!" Riley says jokingly.
Charlie looks up at what he just heard, his heart dropping to his stomach. Is Riley jealous of Maya and Lucas?
"Riley..." Maya says she looks at Lucas and the hopeful look on his face almost kills her. Was Lucas really interested in her or was he just going out with her because Riley liked Charlie now?
Riley gives a nervous laugh.
"I'm joking, you know. I meant the nickname... Since you both are suppose to be more couple like, I thought you'd give up the nicknames. I'm sorry if that was confusing." Riley looks at Charlie and smiles. The light in Lucas's eyes goes out. And Maya is scared about what she has done to Lucas and Riley. Maya wasn't even really sure of her feelings for Lucas and here she was dating him when Riley was sure of how she felt. This was why Maya wanted things to stay how they were, there was no place for Maya where there was Riley and Lucas. Yet Riley did seem to really like Charlie... Maybe there was hope yet...

"Riley what was that in history class?" Maya asked Riley during lunch. She wanted an answer quick before the boys made it to their table.
"What ever do you mean?" Riley said.
"Come on you know..."
"I was joking Maya, I mean I can't help it. I do see Lucas as a brother. I just can't get out of the habit of seeing him that way, even for Auggie's sake. I know that was very confusing." Riley said more seriously.

Riley knew they were talking about something else. Maya wasn't asking why Riley wanted to call Lucas huckleberry, Maya was asking why she had said that huckleberry was hers. Maya wanted to make sure Riley didn't still like Lucas.

"Hey guys what are you talking about?" Lucas asked sitting down next to Maya, and kissing her cheek. Maya froze, what was this she was feeling?
"Hi pal!" Riley said in an exaggeratedly happy tone.
"Pal, I like the sound of that, don't you Lucas?" Charlie says in a cocky tone, he was getting confident against Lucas and why wouldn't he? He had Riley by his side.
"Yeeeah." Lucas says.
"Ladies. Guys."
"Farkel." The group says.
"What I miss?"
"Nothing really" Lucas says.
"Cool so do you guys think we should all go to the movies together?"
"Movies?" Riley says.
"What like a triple date?" Maya asks.
"Yup" Farkel says.
"That sounds interesting." Lucas says.
"Oh it will be." Farkel says. And that worries Riley. What does Farkel have planned? Will he out her as a lier to the gang? She hopes not it would crush not only her best friend but Charlie too. He may not be her crush yet but he still was a good guy and he didn't deserve that.
