"Riley what is going on?"
"Exactly what you heard out there. Is it really that hard to believe?"
"It is actually. I saw how much you liked Lucas, and let me tell you, I know how much he likes you. Because that's still true, no thirteen year old boy would have asked for permission to date someone's daughter unless they really cared. And Maya! Maya Maya Maya, what happened there? She likes Lucas now? I mean I know he's pretty but wow. I just can't understand Riley, she had you sneak out of your own house to come save me from college girls. I'm sorry but I don't think that just disappears."
"It has. She like him. She likes him very much. Maybe she was just channeling her feelings for him onto you. I saw how much she cared for him uncle Josh, it was a feeling greater than friendship... Why are you so angry anyways? Is it possible you like Maya?"
"What? No! It's just when you have someone care for you for so long and then they stop, it's kind of confusing. It just doesn't make sense. I begged her, Riley, I begged her to not like me because of the age difference you know? But she was relentless."
"Are you sure that's it?"
"Positive."
"Good. But if you weren't sure I would probably give you advice to fight for her, that deep down there still a place for uncle boing in her heart, I can feel it. I mean I saw it ten minutes ago, there's still something there."
"Well I'd say that's great advice, I mean if I liked her romantically anyway. Wait... You'd be ok if Maya and I dated? I'm just asking out of curiosity... That wouldn't be weird for you, seeing as I'm your uncle and that would make her your aunt?" Josh laughs momentarily distracted from the situation at hand.
"Never. I love my best friend like a sister, and nothing not even you or any other boy can ruin that."
"Gee thanks."
"It's true, we're a force to be reckoned with. I'd do anything for her... I already hav- so do you like Maya or not?" Riley changed the subject, she'd slipped and she prayed her uncle hadn't caught it.
"Stop right there little niece. I'll tell if you tell."
"Really?" Riley asked looking hopeful.
"Yeah but you can't tell anyone and I can't either."
"Pinky promise?"
"Pinky promise." Her uncle said holding out his pinky.
"Good." Riley sighs, " I already gave up my biggest crush for the love of my life, my best friend, my sister."
"You still like Lucas...." Josh sat there frozen.
"Yeah, but I love Maya."
"So that means it's serious then.... Maya really likes Lucas."
"Yes, she does." Riley says seriously, "what about you uncle Josh? Do you like Maya...?"
