I'm sorry this turned out really, really long oops o_o It's practically a full fanfic and I don't even know if it's that good D= I've looked at it so much that I hate it right now. Anyway, this is for a request from AlexWinchester88 and I hope you like it!! ♥︎
Rule number one: no one messed with Alex. It was a well-known rule, too, and yet people still wanted to see what would happen if they broke it.
"Idiots." Alex muttered under her breath, pulling up in the school parking lot in her 67' Chevy Impala.
She took off her seat belt and sat listening to her music for a few minutes, the sounds of Kansas filling her car.
"Carry on my wayward son... There'll be peace when you are done... Lay your weary head to rest... Don't you cry no more..." She sang to herself, drumming her fingers on the steering wheel.
The song ended and she shut off the radio, picked up her bag and climbed out the car. She swept a stray lock of her from her face and began the walk to the main school building. Suddenly, her phone rang. She looked down to check it and bumped into someone.
Thump!
"Look where you're going, bitch!" Alex heard a voice yell.
She looked up and came face to face with the snarling Nathan Prescott.
"Don't call me a bitch, you prick!" Alex yelled back, one hand on her hip.
"Ooh, sassy!" Nathan mocked her stance before reaching down to pick up his camera. "If this is broken you're gonna pay, you shithead!"
"You've got plenty of money, Prescott. You don't need any more." Alex rolled her eyes, walking past Nathan.
Nathan suddenly grabs ahold of her arm, yanking her back to face him. "That's my family, not me."
Alex yelped, trying to pry his hand from her arm but only succeeding in lightly scratching him with her nails. She noticed lots of students slowly beginning to surround them, trying to catch what was going on. It's like they say; nothing brings school students together like a fight on campus.
"Shit." Nathan muttered. He then leant into Alex's ear, whispering: "We'll finish this later."
Nathan let go and stormed off, pushing poor Alyssa out of the way. Alex sighed, making a point of going a different way than he did.
~
"So..." Max drawled, sitting beside Alex. "How do you know Nathan?"
Alex looked at Max, startled. Alex hated being interrupted while reading and listening to music. She pulled out her earphones and shrugged. "He's just another asshole."
Max folded her arms, awkwardly swaying side to side. "Oh... I heard that you guys were... a thing."
Alex groaned, closing the book she was reading. "Who did you hear that from?"
Yeah, the guy was cute. She couldn't deny that, but them two as a thing? No way in hell.
"This morning I saw him whispering in your ear and holding your arm." Max shrugged her shoulders. "The school kind of filled in the gaps."
Nathan walked into class, sitting in his usual seat at the back. Max looked at Nathan and gave Alex a knowing look.
"It's not like that." Alex hurriedly said, putting her earphones in her pocket and her book in her bag before the teacher walks in.
The teacher opened the door and began yelling about respect, signifying the start of the lesson. Alex zoned out and doodled on some scrap paper.
~
After class was over, Nathan zoomed out just as the bell rang.
"Where is he off to?" Max thought aloud, clearing her stuff away and leaving the classroom.
Alex did the same before she found her locker. She opened it to see a piece of paper that wasn't there before. Sighing, she unfolded the paper and read:
Meet me in my dorm right after your last class. You have some explaining to do.
-N
"Oh, wow. Real spy-like." Alex snickered at the initial.
She sorted her stuff out, closed her locker and headed to the next lesson, a brew of fear and anxiety secretly bubbling away in her stomach.
~
The bell rang for last lesson and Alex felt sick. She had to seem cool and collected, but her mind was reeling with the different ways her and Nathan's talk would end. She exited the school, seemingly in a daze, and trudged over to the dorms.
She tried to regulate her breaths as she knocked on Nathan's door, wanting the ground to randomly give way and allow her to fall into hell.
"It's open." Nathan called from the other side.
If Alex didn't have great bladder control, a tiny bit of pee would surely have escaped in fear. Why did she let Nathan scare her like that? She hardened her expression and opened the door.
"What do you want, jackass?" Alex closed the door behind her, folding her arms.
"Why the fuck does everyone think we're dating?" Nathan stood right in front of her, making her feel small compared to him.
"Back off, dude. I was gonna ask the same thing." Alex pushed hair from her face. "Maybe they thought we were together because you whispered in my ear this morning."
"Aw, fuck. Of course!" Nathan shouted, suddenly filled with rage at himself. If his father found out...
"I tried to tell Max that nothing is happening between us, but she isn't convinced." Alex tried to calm him down, secretly terrified of his anger. Going by the rumours, he's capable of anything when he's this angry.
"That's because she's a nosy bitch!" Nathan sat down on his bed, running his hands through his hair.
"Do you know how we can shut them up?" Alex tried not to let her voice crack. Despite her tough persona, her biggest fear was confrontation.
"I'd have to beat you to a pulp in front of them for them to believe us." Nathan looked up at Alex, making eye contact.
Alex gulped, balling her hands into fists to try to stop them from shaking. "You wouldn't do that though, would you?"
"Why not?"
"He could actually beat me to death right now..." Alex thought as realisation dawned on her.
The two stayed in silence, tension filling the room and suffocating Alex. The scariest thing was how unpredictable Nathan's behaviour was. To distract herself, she looked around Nathan's room. It was surprisingly tidy, and he had a seriously good collection of horror movies.
"That was a joke, by the way." Nathan laughed. "Jeez..."
"Oh!" Alex managed to laugh, trying to ignore how fake it sounded.
"You sound shit-scared. Look, I'm not gonna beat you up, okay?" Nathan frowned.
"I have an idea." Alex sat beside Nathan on his bed. "We should pretend to date for a month or so, then have a really messy breakup. The whole school will be talking so it will spread quickly and get the situation over and done with."
Nathan nodded, ruffling Alex's hair. "I always guessed you were clever."
They sat side by side, silently mulling over what they must do to convince the school they were in love. Alex suggested holding hands, but Nathan asked her if she was twelve and said they'd have to do more.
"I know for a fact they're listening outside." Nathan added on quietly, sighing. "We need to be loud."
Suddenly, Nathan pulled Alex in and kissed her on the lips, smiling against her. Alex kissed back, her hands tangling in his hair. She knew what bad things he was capable of, and she realised that that just made him more attractive. Nathan pinned Alex to the door so eavesdroppers could hear the sounds of them furiously making out. This would definitely start rumours.
Both of them realised in that moment how much they actually liked each other, but that was a conversation for another day.
