My name's Jake. I'm 16 years old, in year 10 and am a comic book nerd. I go to Jameson College with my two best friends Jimmy and Kate, we are an unusual bunch but we are great friends. Jimmy isn't on the bright side but he means well. He's crazy, clumsy and doesn't know when to shut up but we have been friends since prep and I couldn't see life without him. He is a comic book fan like me and we have had crazy adventures Over the years.
We met Kate in year 7 and have been friends ever since. She is a recycle nerd and loves nature and can be quite annoying with telling us to always recycle but she does have a point about 'this is the only livable planet and we should take care of it'. Although she is a environment freak, she is the more popular one out of the three of us, we call her a floater because she seems to float between all the different groups at school, even the popular kids. But she mainly hangs out with us.

So it's Monday morning and first period is Chemistry with Mr Simon - it's a good class but not on a Monday morning. I'm tired, grumpy and not in the mood for a happy Mr Simon, which is weird in the first place. I mean he's a happy guy but never this happy for a Monday morning.
"Why isn't Mr Simon wearing his glasses?" Is the first thing Jimmy says to me as he puts his books down on the table and sits down next to me.
"I'm not a psychic, how would I know?" I ask frustrated
"Monday morning blues I see. Didn't get much sleep last night again?"
"Mum and Mike were fighting again, just because he's eighteen now he thinks he can get drunk all the time." I say as I open my book to a new page.
"Today we will be talking about physical and chemical changes in molecules." Mr Simon says very loudly, as if to say to us 'pay attention'. It was that loud it hurt my ears
The rest of the class was pretty boring just doing work.
The day went on with class after class and it finally ended with the the ring of the bell. Finally, I can go home and relax.

As soon as I walk through the door mum has already started with, "I had to take an extra shift for tonight so you are going to have to make dinner. Make sure that Tom has a shower and that Alex does her homework, won't be home till late. Don't stay up." And with that she is gone. She does this a lot, I probably should explain.
I live with my Mum, two brothers and sister. My Dad left when I was 8 and I haven't seen him since. We aren't a rich family but we aren't poor, mum works as a nurse so she is always out of the house, she try's to be home as much as she can to see us. I have an older brother and younger brother, the older brother is Mike, he is in year twelve, he's popular, he always picks on me and think he is the supreme human being. My younger brother is Thomas, ten years old, in grade four and the favorite child, he gets anything he wants but I must say he is persuasive. Then there's my sister, her name's Alexis but Alex for short, she's thirteen... and moody. She will have good days when she will be your best friend but if you piss her off, you don't want to know her.
Mike is supposed to be in his room but I know he's not, he is out with his friends somewhere.
"What's for dinner?" Asks Alex.
"Chicken something, I'm not really sure what it is anymore but it's edible." I state unsure of what I'm actually cooking.
As I'm cooking away Alex does her homework and Tom has a shower. I didn't really think I would hit parenthood so fast.

The next few days go on the same, boring and nothing really happens. I do my school work, hang out with Jimmy and Kate and then get home to take care of Alex and Tom. Mum is home sometimes but not often.
It's Friday now, and like every Friday, my friends and I get lunch orders.
We are eating our lunch, when we see Zach Marshal walking out of the school grounds.
"Does he ever stay at school for the whole day?" Kate asks angrily
"I heard his mum died last week." I mutter, picking at the food in front of me.
"I heard he once bit the head off a duck." Pipes up Jimmy, who has been trying to figure out whether he actually order a hot dog with no bun.
Kate and I both look at Jimmy with confused looks on our faces. What the hell is this kid on?
Zach Marshal is that kid that you don't know much about but you always hear people spreading rumors about him, which you aren't really sure are true or not. The one thing I do know is that his father has hit him multiple times and that his mother did pass away. The reason I know this is because my mum being a nurse has treated him for bruises that he lied about, saying that he fell off his bike - which he doesn't own. My mum would talk to his mum when she came into the hospital for her cancer treatments.

Last period I had chemistry with Mr Simon, he has changed a bit - he is happier and more confident...but in a cocky way. I put my books down and sit next to Jimmy, I don't know how he got here before me considering he takes five minutes to work out what class he has and another five to find the right books.
"Damn it! I grabbed my English book instead." Shouts Jimmy, then everyone turns and looks at him as he slouches down into his chair, realizing that he just shouted that.
"So that's why you got here so fast,' I murmur. 'You didn't look at what books you grabbed."
"Shut up!" He says jokingly. "I heard that Mr Simon was in a good mood so I wanted to get in his good books because I didn't do the homework."
Mr Simon walks around the room collecting the home work off everyone. When he gets to us I hand him mine and Jimmy just looks up at him with a big grin.
"Again Jimmy?" Mr Simon asks surprisingly not angry. "Considering you were on time today I'll give you till Monday to do it." Jimmy goes to speak and is then cut off. "And yes you can go get your chemistry book."
Half way through the lesson, Mr Simon is writing on the board. His back is turned, so Brad - the popular douche bag he is - decides to throw the ball to his friends across the room. Not realizing that the class room is smaller than the football field, he over threw the ball but as it goes to hit Mr Simon, he turns around and catches the ball. Everyone looks gob smacked because Mr Simon doesn't have one sporty bone in his body and that is the fastest we have ever seen him move.
