Chapter 6: Sunday

It's Mission day. It's finally here and I'm so very nervous. Jimmy might stuff it up somehow just because it's him, Charles might not be able to hack the safe and Zach might just bail on us completely. The one person I can fully trust that won't stuff it up is Kate - she actually knows what she's doing and is responsible. During the day I got everything ready for tonight, I grab my bag and lay everything out on my bed. I have torches, a small bag for the pills, bolt cutters and my phone which I have on charge just in case we get in trouble.
The hours fly past as I wait for Kate and Jimmy to meet me at my place. It hits 10:30, mum's gone to work - she has the night shift tonight so she won't be home till early morning. Kate and Jimmy arrive at my place and of course Jimmy is dressed up in full black camo wear with a beanie on.
"Wow Jimmy. Really?" I ask, looking his outfit up and down and looking at him sadly.
"What?"
Kate and I just laugh. My brother has got his keys and is ready to go. We get in his car a drive to Charles's place - Oh, I should probably explain my brothers part in this.

One Day Earlier

Because it's going to be late at night when we do this, and the fact that we have to pick up Charles - he lives on the other side of town - we were going to have to get someone to drive us. So Jimmy and I came up with a plan.
"Hey Mike?" I say, as nicely as I can, hoping to will him into doing what I want.
"What do you want?"
"Well, my friends and I are planning on doing something tomorrow night, would you be able to drive us?" I ask my eighteen year old brother who can now officially drive on his own.
"Why would I do that?" Mike replies grumpily staring at the TV screen.
"Because I'm your younger brother and you love me."
"Sure let's go with that." He scoffs. "What are you doing anyway?" He asks, still not looking at us while he smashes his Xbox controller, not taking any notice of what exactly it is that's happening.
"We're breaking into the school." Jimmy comes out and just says it.
"Jimmy!"
"Wow my brothers being a rebel, who would have though that?" He says and laughs. He pauses his video game and acknowledges us, and I now realise that we've sparked his attention. "I will help you but you have to something for me."
"What? We'll do anything." I say.
"As you know, mum has grounded me, which means she has taken my keys away. If Jimmy can pick-pocket them out of mums jacket where she's hiding them and you cover me next weekend so I can go to a party, we have a deal." He says with a big smirk on his face. Jimmy may be clumsy and stupid sometimes but the one thing he is good at is pick-pocketing.
"Okay, deal." So now all we have to do is get the keys off mum.
Mum gets home from work and she is wearing the coat - that she always wears. The exact one that has Mike's keys in them. I distract her by asking how work was - she always has long dramatic stories seeing as she's a nurse. As she is talking to me Jimmy pretends to go get a drink. He then sneaks behind her and ever so gently reaches his hand into her pocket and grabs the keys.
Now we have our ride for tomorrow.

We reach Charles's place and pick him up. Zach said he didn't need a lift, so after Charles' we head towards the school. I'm sitting in the front seat, while the other three are in the back. Charles is trying to flirt with Kate and she is ignoring him. As my brother is only eighteen and is on his red P plates, the guys in the back have to sit low just in case we get caught by the cops.
When we reach the school, Zach is nowhere to be seen.
"I told you we couldn't trust him." Jimmy says as we hop out of the car.
"Wait here, okay Mike?" I say as I shut the car door.
"So, you still don't trust me?" We hear Zach's deep, mysterious voice again, as he comes out of the shadows into the street light next to the school.
"Let's get going." I say, ignoring him.
We sneak around the side of the school where there's a huge mesh fence. I bring out the bolt cutters to cut a a hole for us to get through, but of course Zach opens up an already pre cut hole.
"Like I said this isn't my first break in." Zach says as he goes through the hole. He then holds it open for the rest of us. "Now everyone follow me exactly because if you don't you'll be seen by the cameras."
As Zach said, this isn't the first time he's broken into the school. He told us that his 'friend' had helped him hack into the cameras, so he could see where the blind spots were. We follow Zach across the oval, down the path sliding across the edge of the buildings. We silently creep into the building where Mr Simon's classroom is. We're able to get through the door by jiggling the door slightly which unhooks it. There's a couple of doors that have the same lock as this one and they're so easy to unlock. The school should really upgrade them considering they have security cameras and all the other fancy things. Zach then enters the code for the alarm system so it doesn't go off.
All we have to do now is creep along the wall one at a time into the staffroom, crawl across the floor underneath the tables to the other side of the room where there's a door to the other hall way and then go to Mr Simon's room. That should - hopefully - be easy.
We have to creep in the first hallway one at a time, we do this because the camera in the hallway swings from side to side and there is only a moment when we can quickly get in there. Once we are all in, we crawl to the other side. We had to go this way because the entrance to the hallway Mr Simon's room is in has a camera directly in front of it and the lock is a proper one. There is only one other thing that we have to do - more like Charles has to do - is hack into the camera that is in the next hallway. There is no way not to be seen by it. While under the tables, Charles opens up his computer and does his thing. As he is doing this, I hear a crackling noise that I don't know where it's coming from. I turn and look at Jimmy and he is trying to open up a packet of lollipops.
"What are you doing?" I whisper to him.
"I brought sustenance for the trip. Do you want one?" He asks with a smile on his face.
"No, I do not want one." I try to say angrily, while still being quiet.
"More for me then." He says as he puts a lollipop in his mouth and shoves the rest back into his pockets. By now Charles is done so we move into the hallway. We creep up the hallway and then once again I hear that crackling noise.
"Sshh, be quiet Jimmy!"
