Chapter 7: Get Away

I run through the door closing it behind me, the camera in the hallway is still out and the fire alarm is ringing in my ears. I quickly crawl under the staffroom tables, into the hallway making sure the camera won't see me and out the door. I jiggle the door again and it locks this time. I remember the way Zach brought us in, I follow it as close as I can remember hoping I don't get seen. I run across the oval and through the the hole in the fence. As I run down the side of the school I can hear the alarm ringing, this terrifies me as I haven't seen the others yet since I went back for the files and that the cops could show up anytime. As I get closer I can see Mike's car, the closer I get I start seeing the others in the car, which gives me a sigh of relief. I jump into the front seat - which is surprisingly vacant - and we take off as fast as we can. I turn to look at who's in the back seat and I see Kate, Charles and - Zach. But where's Jimmy? I start to get worried again.
"Where's Jimmy?"
"Don't worry! He's in the boot, there was no room in the back so he jumped in there." Kate tells me trying to calm me down.
"Jimmy is the one that pulled the fire alarm." Zach says with a big happy grin on his face.
"What?"
"We will tell you when we get to your place." 
As we drive we turn down the next street and see a cop car driving down the others side of the road. My heart starts to pump as fast as it was before, it never really slowed down actually.

When we reach home, we get out of the car and all go inside. We all go to the lounge room and Mike heads off to his room but before he goes he says.
"Never get me involved with stuff like that again, I have dealt with the cops before but now that I'm 18 I can go to prison."
We all sit down on the couches, we are able to talk because Alex's room is at the other end of the house.
"Jimmy what happened to you. I see you come into the room with us then once that guy came, you were no where to be seen. I saw everyone else hide but I didn't see you."
"Well after I fell over the chair, I realized that I dropped a lollipop rapper in the hallway. I thought I shouldn't leave any evidence so I went to go get it. That's when I saw another guy coming up the hallway so I hid behind the lockers. When I saw him go into Mr Simon's room I didn't want you guys to get caught so I thought as quick as I could. I saw the fire alarm next to me so I pulled it."
"So you saw the guy. What did he look like?" I ask eagerly.
"I didn't see much, all I saw was a red hoodie."
"Your brother saw him go in, he followed us but Mike said he thought he was just one of your friends that was late." Kate says
"What about the glass that crashed?" I ask
"That was me." Zach states. "I could see through the crack in the door and I saw the figure walking towards you guys and then I saw a beacon sitting out the bench next to the cupboard. So I stuck my arm out and put it on the very edge, as it started falling I quickly hide back in the cupboard."
"You could have been caught!" Jimmy says worriedly. Which is weird because he doesn't like Zach.
"I thought it would be better me getting caught, the bad boy trying to steal test results than, then non trouble makers trying to hack a safe."
"Wow you really would have done that for us?" Kate says surprised.
"It's been doing this with you guys, I'm not as bad as everyone makes me out at school." We all look at him like he is now a normal, caring person. "But if you tell anyone I said that, I will deny it and you won't be coming to school anymore once I'm done with you." And that feeling of a normal guy is gone.
"So did anymore actually get what we came for?" Pipes up Charles who has been sitting there quiet the whole time. Everyone looks around at each other shaking their heads saying they didn't get it.
Then I pull the pills bottle from my bag, throw them up in there air and catch them.
"Well you're lucky I did."
"Wow good job Jake." Kate says. I then pass the bottle around and everyone has I look at the the pills.
"Is no one going to bring up the fact that Zach just told us that he stole the test results." Mentions Jimmy who now sounds annoyed at Zach again.
"Don't worry about it Jimmy." Replies Kate.
"Well we will talk about the pills and things tomorrow at lunch. For now we need some sleep if we are going to school tomorrow. You are all welcome to stay the night here." I say to everyone. I go get some mattresses, pillows and blankets and we all sleep in the lounge room. Jimmy Charles and I on the floor and Kate on one couch and Zach on the other. As I dose off I think about all the possibilities that are going to come from finally getting out hands on these magical pills.
