Chapter 4: Detention Drama

Suddenly we hear the ear piercing rings of the fire alarm. The man runs out of the class room as quick as he could leaving the door open. Then out of nowhere Jimmy appears in the door way. "So are we getting out of here or what?"
We all appear from our hiding places and run towards the door. I nearly reach the door when I remember, I run back and grab the pills and a file from the safe. I shut the safe, make sure everything is the way it was and leave the room shutting the door behind me.

Three days earlier.

The bell rings to tell everyone that it's the end of the day except for Jimmy, Kate and I because yesterday we got ourselves detention. We all just had class together so we walk to detention but Kate walked in front of us because she was still mad that she got in trouble. We arrive at room 32 - the detention room - and we have the best teacher; Mr Rogers. He's the best teacher for detention because he falls asleep or plays games on his laptop so we are free to do what ever we want. I know this because I have had detention once before when I accidentally spilt my chocolate milk over Brad but he told the teacher I threw it over him. We all sit down at the same table but Jimmy is still standing talking to me about some xbox game that he hadn't played in ages.
"Sit down Jimmy" Mr Rogers yells across the room
"Roger that" Jimmy yells back
"Because I haven't heard that one before" Mr Rogers gives him a look to say 'really'.
"Now you are all here for an hour, I don't care what you do as long as you stay in this room and don't disturb me."
We sit there for the first ten minutes while Mr Rogers distracts himself. We were discussing how we could approach Charles to get him to help us with out sounding too crazy. Charles was sitting at the back of the room by himself, he was doing something on his laptop - probably something nerdy. Mr Rogers had fallen asleep so we get up and gather ourselves around Charles.
"So Charles I heard you hacked into the schools system to change your grade?" Jimmy asks.
"Stupid PE" mumbles Charles under his breath
"What?"
"It's not my fault that I was trying to work out the right angle and force to kick the ball when Brad and his gang tackled me to the ground, I need time to make the shot!" Charles exclaims as if he knew how to play football. "Besides its not like the schools system was hard to break into, they have no security, all I had to do was -"
"Yeah what ever we don't care about that nerdy stuff" Says Jimmy as he cuts Charles off.
"Actually the nerdy stuff is why we are here, we need your help." I say brushing off what Jimmy said, now with me giving Jimmy that look of 'really'.
"I don't think I can, I'm really busy with study and stuff. I just don't have the time to help other people." Charles says staring at his computer not really caring what we have to say.
"Please Charles your the smartest kid at this school, we could really use your help." Kate says in a girly voice as if she is flirting with him while twirling her fingers through her hair. Jimmy and I turn and look at Kate because she doesn't flirt with anyone and we have never seen her act like that.
Now dreamily staring at Kate. "Well I guess I could listen to what you have to say and consider it."
"We need you to hack into a safe. Do you know how to do that?" I ask Charles
"If it's Mr Simon's safe your breaking into, it's a more challenging one but I do that sort of stuff in my sleep, so of course I could." Charles states as if it's nothing.
"How did you know it was Mr Simon's safe?" I ask
" I heard you broke into Mr Simon's room and I have been wanting to take a look at what he has in there myself."
"Yeah we did."
"You obviously know what's in there because you haven't questioned it and you have never done anything like this before."
"We may know what's in there... How do you know I haven't done anything like this?"
"That wasn't the first time I hacked into the schools system. I know everything about everyone. I know Jimmy got the same mark as Kate on the math test from last week."
"See I didn't make it up, I really got that mark." Jimmy states rubbing it in Kate's face.
I ignore what Jimmy says and go back to talking to Charles. "So we were thinking of doing this Sunday are you cool with that."
"I said I could, I never said I would. My services come at a price."
"I'll do your homework for a week" Jimmy says as if Charles is going to want Jimmy doing his homework.
"Look Jimmy I don't think he wants that. Come on Charlie I don't think there needs to be a price."  Kate's says in her flirty voice again.
"Okay I'll do it but I only want one thing." States Charles
"What?" I ask
"Kate goes on date with me." Charles remarks slyly.
"A date? In public?" Kate's say nervously. I give her a look of please do it. "Okay"
"You owe me one." Kate whispers in my ear.
"You also have to tell me what's in the safe." Charles says as if he's in charge now.
"That's for us to know" I state
"Then I guess your not getting into the safe."
"Okay..." I explain everything about what we have noticed with Mr Simon and about the pills.
"It doesn't sound believable but I'll still do it and I'll try one of those pill just on the off chance it works."
We start to plan how we are going to pull this 'mission' off, we start working out how we are going to get there, what each persons job is and everything else that needs to be considered.
"So Charles you will need to hack into the schools alarm system, so it doesn't go off while we are there." I explain to Charles
Then a random deep voice from the table next to us. "Or I could just type the code in"
