Kendall's POV:

Why the hell did I get myself into this? I hate going to parties with people I don't know. All I know is that me and Avery just snuck out of he window. climbed down a tree by her bedroom window and we are currently walking down the street to her boyfriend's house.

"Don't worry" Avery said. "This way, you can meet kids from school.. And probably some cute guys" she continued with a smile on her face.

"1. I'm not really good at making friends. And 2. Why would any hot guy want to even come near me?" I replied with.

"Do I seriously have to have this talk with you again?" She replied sounding as if she had heard the most surprising thing ever.

"No thanks. I'm good" I said back with a little attitude this time.

"Oh, no no no no no missy. Don't start this atitude thing with me. I was starting to actually like you." She said with a complete straight face. Then after a couple seconds, she broke down into laughter.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

"Look behind you". She tried saying in between bits of laughter.

When I turned around, I figured out I really shouldn't have. There was a fat drunk kid around my age wearing nothing but a speedo and had a beer in his hand, running around as he fell into the bushes.

"That's so gross!" I yelled-whispered to Avery.

"Yeah, I guess it is, but it is pretty funny".

Right as I was looking back at the fat kid, a really good looking guy was walking towards us with his friends.

Avery was facing the other way, so the hot guy put his hands over her eyes as he said, "Guess who?" in her ear.

"CARSON!!" Avery said with excitement.

"Did you miss me?" Carson said back.

"Of course". Avery said with a goofy grin on her face. "Carson, this is my new step sister, Kendall.. Kendall, this is my boyfriend, Carson".

"Nice to meet you". Carson said sticking out his hand for me to shake.

"Nice to meet you too". I said as I shook his hand. He was HOT!

"So, have you ever been around here?" Carson asked looking at me.

"Ummm.... No." I said. "I just moved here from Boston. I haven't ever been to the west coast."

"Interesting." Carson said.

"Alrighty then.. Since everyone has met eachother, lets go to the party." Avery said with a smile.

****************

As I walked into Carson's house, I had a feeling I shouldn't be there. There were beer cans everywhere, couples making out on the couch and random people grinding on eachother on the dance floor. This wasn't the smartest idea I have ever had.  I have been here for about twenty minutes, and I already regret it. I haven't seen Avery since we got here, so I have no idea who any of these people are. As I was trying to debate whether I should just leave or not, a hot guy around my age came up to me.

"Hey" he yelled over the music.

"Hi." I replied bluntly. You could tell, he was already hammered.

"You new around here?" he asked.

"How did you know?" I replied.

"Well, I would of remembered a sexy little thing like you." He said back, putting his arm around my shoulders. Yep, definitely wasted. "I'm Jake, by the way." He slurred.

"Kendall." I replied back.

"Jake! Get your ass over here!" I heard someone yell, just as another hot guy came over.

"Oh, hey Carter, so nice of you to join us." Jake said.

"Yeah, yeah. Your girlfriend's looking for you." Carter said back.  "And you are?" he was asking me.

"Kendall.... Avery's new step sister. I'm new around here". I replied.

"Is that a Boston accent I hear?" he asked.

"Yeah" I said with a smile. This Carter guy wasn't so bad. "How could you tell?"

"I used to live in Somerset". He replied back.

"No way!" I replied with a smile.

"Hey." Avery said coming up to me unexpectedly, wicked hammered.

"Hey." I replied back.

"Carter, what the hell are you doing talking to my sister?" Avery asked Carter.

"Can I not talk to people?" He asked with sarcasm.

"Yes you can talk to people. No you cannot talk to Kendall." Avery slurred.

"Why not?" Carter asked.

"I don't want you to hurt her like you've hurt so many other girls." Avery said bluntly. "Come on Kendall, we better get going.. This party kind of sucks".

"Yeah.. Whatever". I said. "I'll see you around Carter". I said with a smile.

"I thought Avery you to stay away?" Carter asked.

"She doesn't own me". I said to Carter with a smirk, as me and Avery were leaving.

"Can I at least get your number?" He asked with the biggest grin on his face. I gave it to him and left.

Why did I just do that? I never act like that. Attitude is definitely not my thing...
