The New Girl

Chapter 9

Kendall's POV:

I couldn't get him out of my head all day. We had a quiz today in science. Was I ready? No, because we text all the time during class. History exam tomorrow.. Have I started it? Nope.. Because of him. Carter is seriously everything that's on my mind. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. Uggghhhhh... I've tried texting him, but I got no response. 

After realizing there is nothing to do, I got on Instagram. Yup, I'm that bored. I posted a mosiac picture of me listening to music. All I put was #bored #musicismylife. Carter almost instantly commented and liked.

Really? He doesn't text me back all day and that's what he says? Wait, why the hell do I care? My phone rang with the refrain to Zedd's song Spectrum. Carter's ringtone. Don't ask, he set it as that.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey Kendall". Carter's voice came through from the other end.

"What do you want?" I asked bluntly.

"Do I have to want something?" He asked kind of annoyed.

"Well.... You haven't texted me back at all today. Why would you call now?" I said back kind of bitchy.

"Yeah.. I'm sorry about that.... I shouldn't have left school, but I should have texted you." He said in an apologetic voice.

"It's fine... But what do you want?" I said with a little laugh.

"I really want to know what Aislin said to you before school started." He said straight to the point.

"She didn't say much.. Just that I should stay away from you and what not." I said back.

"That really doesn't surprise me.. But why were you laughing as she walked away?" He asked back seriously.

"I just think it's funny how she thinks that she can control me... And she thinks your like her pet or something... It's just kind of entertaining to me." I said back honestly.

"You are definitely a different girl Kendall Grey." He said back surprised.

"Why do you sound so surprised?" I asked curiously.

"No one.. I mean no one sticks up to Aislin.. Your crazy". Carter told me.

"Well... I'm not disagreeing with that one." I said with a giggle.

"Yeah.. So if you won't listen to Aislin..." He said.

"Yeah...." I replied back hesitantly.

"Do you want to go to the fair with me tomorrow?"  He asked me with alot of doubt in his voice.

"Hmmmmm.... I have to think about that." I said teasing him.

"I knew you would say no.. I'll call you later". He said sounding sad.

"Carter, I would love to go with you." I said back.

"Really? Are you sure? Cause Aislin, she's kinda psycho and I really don't want to put you through anything.." He started to ramble.

"Just shut up!" I yelled through the phone while giggling. "I don't care about her."

"I'll see you tomorrow then". He said happily.

"See you tomorrow then." I replied back. And with that, he hung up and I fell asleep trying to put together what just happened.

 "Kendall, wake up." Avery said. "It's six o'clock. My mom just got home from Fiji and she really wants to meet you."  Avery said with excitement.
