chapter 14:

Brett's POV:

it had been about 2 days after i last saw Liam.
currently Friday...
the day i assumed we would be going on our date.
but since the way things went, i knew it would have to happen another time.

i was beginning to get worried since Liam had missed a lot of school.
i never received even a text back as to why he wasn't showing up.

"i just hope he's okay.." Mason rubbed his temples as we sat on the bleachers, watching the boys play lacrosse.

i mean yes, i should be out there too.
but not with this much on my mind.

suddenly, as if it was a coincidence, the P.A system went on.

"Brett talbot and Mason-"
(A/N: idk Mason's last name kill me omggggg, let's pretend it says it k bye)

"what could they possibly be calling us for?" Mason's face showing confusion.
"i don't know but i hope it's nothing bad.." i said as we quickly got up, heading for the office.

for some strange reason, i had a weird feeling in my stomach.
almost as if i was nervous.

we both got there within no time and spoke with the lady at the front desk.

"go to the room over in there," she pointed to the principals office.
"he wants to chat with you about something.." her voice fading off.

we nodded and walked in quietly, heading into his office.
"hello boys, have a seat," he gave us a weak smile while shutting the door behind us two.

"so I've received a call from the parents of.." he checked his desk, reading off a name.
"Liam Dunbar," he sat down and looked at us.
"what's wrong with him?" Mason panicked.

i could hear his heartbeat rising by the minute.
"since the two of you are close with him.. they wanted to inform you both that two days ago, he attempted to commit suicide.." and that's when my heart stopped in my chest.

Liam?
Liam tried to end his life? just like that?....
i could feel tears building up but i refused to let them fall, meanwhile Mason silently cried.

"but thankfully, he's currently resting in Beacon Hills hospital, still healing though" i could tell it hurt our principal to tell us this.

and it definitely broke me inside.

"we completely understand if you need to take some time to visit him and talk to him. in fact, we hope you do. he needs the support of you two right now" we instantly nodded, knowing it was true.

Liam needed us.

the principal soon dismissed us after we gave a quick call to our homes.
we picked up the pace and headed to Mason's car, driving straight to the hospital.
i hadn't cried yet.
but i knew that as soon as i would see Liam, i wouldn't be able to hold back.

within 10 minutes time, the both of us got to the hospital that Liam was currently in.
rushing to the front desk, i saw a familiar face.
"Melissa!" Mason said and Melissa looked up from her papers.
"oh! Brett, Mason.. im so sorry, im assuming you're here for-"

"Liam" both Mason and i said in unison.
"i was just headed over there.. but i want to warn you guys, he's had a bit of medication so he's going to be acting slightly different.. and well- yeah" Melissa rambled on as she lead us to Liam's room.
