i was in science class, paired up with our newly assigned partners for the seating plan.

"any questions?" the teacher finally asked after a lesson that we were expected to write about.

we all nodded and got to work, my new partner, Corey, already half a page done.

"woah, how did you finish that much so fast?" i widen my eyes.

"i just like to get it over with fast." he laughed and i nodded.

"hey, have you seen Mason lately?" he pipped up, still writing away, meanwhile i had nothing.

"now that i think about it, not at all.." i shrugged.

my phone buzzed again and i sighed, tired of this bullshit.

blocked number:
hmm..don't make Brett jealous.

i snap my head back and see everyone working on their given assignments.
nobody was texting.

you:
i don't know who the fuck you think you are, but im blocking your ass.

blocked number:
i wouldn't do that if i were you.

you:
watch me, dumb bitch.

and with that i blocked the number that wasn't visible in the first place.
shoving my phone away, i begin my work.

lunch came around and Brett and i met up in the hallway, walking to the cafeteria.
it felt slightly awkward, almost as if we were just friends. so i built up the courage and laced my fingers with his, our hands now holding.

i could see the smile plastered on his face which made my heart warm.

we found ourselves an empty table and sat down beside each other.
placing my bag down, i dug out a water bottle, not particularly hungry just yet.

"i'm so tired of this school." i rubbed my eyes.

"only a few more years till we're out." he nudged my shoulder as a reminder.

"that is if i even manage to graduate. and even if i do, what about college, you know?" i tap my fingers on the table while in the midst of thinking.

"you'll do fine. and college will be awesome, trust me." i shrug.

"partying? wouldn't you enjoy that?" he smirked and i nodded with a hesitant smile.

i was about to say something but my phone buzzed and i reached for it, reading what the screen showed.

unknown number: hi baby! can i meet you after school again? ;) last time was fun xx

i frown with confusion and i turned to see Brett with a sad and disappointed facial expression.

"who's that?" his tone suspicious.

"i-i don't know." i shrugged.

"seriously, Liam?" Brett shook his head with a scoff, not pleased one bit.

"i don't even know who's texting me, Brett! common?" i say with a harsher tone.

"i'm sure you know damn well who's texting you.." and with that he picked up his bag and walked away from the table.

i sat there feeling completely immune and numb to this whole entire situation. we just went from good to off the map within a matter of seconds.

i pulled at my hair roughly, wondering who would be sending these screwed up messages. clearly more than one person.. or maybe just a sneaky kid.
