I woke up to the bright sun shining through my window right in my face. I clasped my hands over my eyes due to the overwhelming change of light. Once my eyes adjusted I looked out the window to see the one right across with the curtain closed yet again.
Even though I may hate him with a passion may I add I was still worried we hadn't talked in couple of months then the curtains just shut I haven't even see him in school. Everyday I bring home his homework and ring the doorbell then as usual his mom answers and I ask to see him she uses another phony excuse and I leave.
"BOBBY GET UP AND GET READY FOR SCHOOL!" My mom screamed down the hallway. Yet again it was morning with her annoying pissy attitude. I got up placing on some jean shorts with a navy blue tank but it was cut off like a crop top revealing the tiniest bit of stomach before placing on my baseball jersey with 'Adams' printed on the back and number 80 on the sleeves. I brushed out my hair before pulling it in a messy top knot. I grabbed my book bag heading downstairs to place my white converse on.
"I swear you dress crappier everyday" I heard my mother mutter.
"Tell that to the six boys grabbing my butt everyday and the one I make out with in free period" I snarled grabbing an apple. I really didn't have guys grabbing my butt or even had one to make out with but I wasn't letting my mom win this battle. She broke out dumbfounded with her mouth hanging agape as I threw my book bag over my shoulder and walking out.
I took a bite of my apple before heading to the white steps onto the sidewalk. I saw a short boy about a year younger then me staring in udder shock to my next door neighbors house.
I was about to speak when I got cut short. I saw the tall boy with dark hair and tan skin and eyes that glowed across the whole neighborhood.
"Hey Adams how have you been" he said throwing a baseball towards me. I caught it still looking at him as if he was a unicorn in my presence. Unicorn? The hell?
"Pretty much everywhere Rodriguez but you haven't" I said throwing it back. He pretended it hurt his hand.
"Dang Bob still got that arm" he said and I rolled my eyes.
"You know I hate the name Bob it's Bobby just like how you hate being called Ben it's Benny" I said obviously annoyed. He laughed out loud before looking at the small boy.
"Smalls stop staring she is just a girl" Benny said to the boy referred to to as Smalls.
"I'm not staring at her, I'm staring at you. I haven't seen you in daylight since well the last time I saw you" the boy spoke obviously amazed.
"So how's Jan or Jessica that girl you been hanging around" I said walking by and a sad look grew through his eyes. Oops.
"Be quiet" the boy mumbled through his lips after elbowing me in the ribs.
"She is fine" he spoke with no emotion.
"Hey nice talking to you though since its been like months and nice meeting ya kid but I'm going to wait for the bus" I said turning to look at them but still walking backwards.
"So are we" he spoke smoothly his voice like butter on a pan. I opened my eyes in shock once again. What is with this kid. Goes off the grid for like 4 weeks then just appears acting if nothing had changed in the 3 months we haven't talked to each other.
"Okay Doctor slick but don't get to ahead of yourself" I warned and he laughed.
"I promise Bob no funny business" he chuckled.
"That means not calling me Bob" I sneered and he laughed.
"But B-"
"You say it you die"
"Bob" it was so exasperated out I couldn't help but laugh myself. I turned around letting the boys walk behind me.
"She looks like Jessi" I heard the little boy whisper to Benny.
"That's why Jessi caught my eye because she looked exactly like the girl who gave me a reason to love baseball" he whispered back.
He gave me a reason to love baseball too.
