My father opened the car door as we stepped out to the diner to talk. It was the same diner Benny took me to. I smiled at all the memories I have shared in this great place. I never understood the movie The Wizard of Oz until now. There is no place to be except the place you grew up. Most memories are made in the places while your still growing and learning. No wonder Dorothy wanted to go home because there was no place like home that is always where your heart will be.
"I hope you were thinking about my offer?" He folded his hands on the table we were sitting at and I slowly nodded.
"I want more information before I decided anything" I spoke calmly and he nodded.
"Well I'm going there for research within my work and I was hoping to reconnect with you and I will enroll you into a schoo-"
"No, information about why you left" I cut him off.
"You know I spent years blaming myself that I wasn't good enough. I was a crappy daughter and you didn't want me and you didn't need me so you just left and Mom I bet she thinks the same. After you left I lost everything and not because you meant the world you were never there in the first place because after that mom didn't care she rarely fed me, she always yelled at me, she never did motherly things I was on my own and then I even stopped talking to the Rodriguez's and I had nothing and it would of been great to see if you were actually there for us to see how the cards would have changed" I spoke honestly.
"I left because I knew I couldn't be there for you, your mom she loves to argue and I know that and I struggled to be around with work and everything and I knew once it became daily your mom would fight and fight every night and I didn't want that for you so I left. I knew you guys would be okay and you are, you have both grown your such a beautiful girl it makes me happy to see you like this. Trust me, me leaving at the time is a good thing" he said and I nodded.
"I really want you to come it will be a chance for you to see the world and reconnect with me now that I have more time and right after you graduate and I finish my research we can head right back here to the valley" he said and I nodded thinking about it.
"I'll go"
