Sanuel's P.O.V
"Young Master, you must dress."
I watched as my personal keeper began to fix up my room, putting things back from where I knocked them from. Because I could not go outside, I knocked everything that could break or fall onto the floor causing the big mess. All I could do was smile and walk away, paying her no mind.
"Today is a very important day for you and your father."
"It is not mother's anniversary. What day would be so important?" I snarled and threw a shirt at her.
"All the young boys from the six houses are preparing to receive something of great value. Do you not want to go?"
My eyes widened.
"What is it? New games? Books?" I was filled with curiosity and excitement causing the woman to smile and touch the top of my head.
"I would not know, Young Master. If you dress now, you may make it in time."
I was quick to grab the shirt I had thrown at her and put it over my body. She began to tuck the shirt inside my trousers and helped me into my blazer.
"Are we finished? Can we go?" I jumped up and down trying to head for the stairs, but she kept a firm grip on the collar of my shirt and pulled me back.
"Let me fix your collar and then you can go."
I heard the trotting of horses and a wagon following close behind. As soon as I peaked out the window, I saw my father. He had on his favorite pair of black boots dirtied with mud. His shirt had splotches of brownish-red dots on him, but his jacket was free of anything.
He looked up and shouted my name then.
"Sanuel, Come down! I have a gift for you!" A smile plastered across my face.
"Coming!"
I went down the stairs ignoring my keeper and ran into my father's opened arms. He let out a big laugh and smiled at me full of excitement.
My father was a very kind man to me then. I had looked up to him. Even revered him. Ah, how naive I was.
"Did I not tell you I would be back?"I shook my head and let go of him with a small smile still lingering on my face.
"What did you bring me? More books?" I bit down on my lip waiting in anticipation for his answer.
He only ruffled my hair and walked away from me.
"It is good to be a well-learned boy, but, Sanuel, you must be more of a fighter as well. Your mother had babied you for far too long."
"Father, I do not need none of that. Mother said the wolves will leave us in peace and we will not have to fi-"
"Enough of the nonsense, Sanuel." I bit down on my lip again and pressed my fingernails into my hands.
As soon as he began to walk to the back of the wagon, the boys from the other six houses came running towards the wagon as if it were their name day. They pushed me towards the back crowding both my father and the wagon with talk of what could be inside.
