Pierce's P.O.V

Just before I am about to head towards where the last of the dying humans were at, I feel something in the pit of my stomach that halts me in my steps. I take a close look around as my heart begins to quicken. What is...

My lips part as my thoughts lead to Cas.

He could not have... He did not leave. He promised he would not. Soon, my eyebrows furrowed and I am quick to grow restless and fill with unease.

Isaac is fine, he's fine. He will understand if I...I crunch down on my lip and sink my nails into the palms of my hands. Forgive me, Isaac.

I peel away from the path I am supposed to take head back towards the Northern territories area. Cassius, why must you make me worry for you? Now is not the time for you to be going off to wherever. You promised me, I think in frustration and anger.

As soon as I reach the winding road, I see Aaron rushing off into the same direction ignoring my presence all together. I could smell the blood of the humans all over him and his shirt was barely over his back.

"Aaron-Aaron!"

I rush after him grabbing at his wrist before he spins around and yanks it away from me.

"Now is not the time for this!"

"What is- Aaron, where you going? Why are you-" I smell Cassius' scent in the passing wind along with his blood intermingled with someone else's. Something...human. My eyes widen.

He could not have.

"Wait, Aaron. This is...Cassius will not-..." I fumble on my words as I see his leering expression.

Cassius would kill him, I know he will.

Aaron starts his run and I am quick to rush after him. It's not long before I see Cassius' trying to press a silver dagger down onto a human's neck. His skin is burning, I know, but still he continues to keep a firm grasp on it. The moment the dagger starts to draw blood, Aaron tries to rush over, but I pull him away.

"Let me-" He pushes me out the way but I grab his arm and tug him back towards me.

"You will not touch him," I growl.

"I am not going to let your mate harm mine! No-no. I'd kill you before I allow that to happen."

"Understandable, so you must realize that I would feel the same."  His eyes narrow with annoyance and panic altogether.

I let go of him and try to approach from behind him. Soon, I grab his arms and press them against his own chest. He fights and flails against me knocking us both onto the ground.

Just as he his about to get up, I grab his wrist and roll him underneath me, encaging him.

"Stop this, Cas."

I see a deep gash going across his side and one along his neck and face making me bite down on my lip in anger. My wolf was, instinctively, furious someone would dare lay a hand on our mate, but I am quick to muscle it down.

"Why?" he shouts. "Why should I? He deserves death! After everything! After everything he's done to me..."

"Cas, Cas... look at me. Look at me." My thumb rubs against the cheek unharmed.

"He caused me nothing but suffering!"

"Cas," My heart is hurting for him. I know no matter what I say it will not make him feel better. However, killing him would not either.

"Pierce, he took everything from me. It isn't fair!" Tears come pouring out from his eyes causing me to wipe them away as quick as they come.

"It isn't fair..." he sobs.
