Aaron's P.O.V
I continue to twiddle Sanuel's fingers with my own as I see him beginning to doze off. Soon, I go on and press my lips to the palm of his hand causing him to stir. His fingers only wrap around mine tighter as a result. It only makes me smile.
"Aaron...truly, you know every way to keep me from falling asleep."
"You have been sleeping for awhile now and I'm growing restless."
"Unlike you, I do not have the unnatural ability to heal fast. ...It takes time, Aaron..."
My eyes fall.
"But I'll be fine. I will be..." He perches himself up and looks at me more intently. "So stop this worrying..."
"All I do is worry. You are in a den of Eastern werewolves. We're not known to be so gracious to humans, especially not one of your...rank."
My utterance only makes him laugh, a soft one, a bitter.
"They are suffering all too much to worry about passed prejudice and hate. I am sure they just want this horrible nightmare to end..."
His eyes begin to water as he slides his hands across his cheeks. "I want this to end as well...I want this all to end...because nothing is worth this..."
Before I can respond, I hear sobbing coming from the adjacent room. Just by his scent alone, I can tell who it is. It only makes my heart hurt at what could have been the reason for him to be upset about.
My eyes widen as I notice Sanuel's gradual rise from the bed.
"Sanuel, no--"
"These are your people, your kin, Aaron. You cannot just worry for me as I cannot just worry for you. We must stop this, break this nasty habit of ours. It is not just us anymore."
I nod my head and continue to follow him out and into the next room. The sobbing only grows louder and more heartbreaking to hear as we get closer.
"Isaac--"
"Help him. Help him, please... I beg of you. I am not worth his life--nothing is." I look at his hands covered in Stevens' blood causing me to bite down on my lip.
He hadn't...
"...His wound had reopened...why? It was healing just fine--"
"Sanuel..." I try to mumble, but he continues on.
"Was it laborious activity? He will be fine if it was so." Isaac only grows more upset as Sanuel ignorantly goes on and analyzes it as he would a human situation.
"Sanuel," I say louder this time. "He bit him."
"Bit him?"
I close my eyes as I watch it dawn on him.
"...Still I think...I think I can help..." Isaac's eyes narrow and a low growl comes from him causing me to push him behind me.
However, Sanuel just comes back in front of me.
"Along with my studies on how to weaken...your kind...I also learned of ways to heal as well," he pauses for a moment.
"For Aaron's sake, in the beginning," he adds. I understand your mistrust, but all you have, at the moment, is me. I wish to do neither you or your mate no harm..."
I watch Isaac's conflicted face as he stares at his mate before looking back at Sanuel.
"Just help him and all will be forgiven... I promise you."
