Seeing as how school didn't start for a few minutes, I decided it was a good idea to hang around someone that I considered as a worst enemy. Well, not worst enemy, but, you get the gist. I sighed, looking at Axel.
"So, Axel, what exactly did you do to your Science lab?" He looked up at that and shrugged.
"I just burned it a little..." Suddenly, the door slammed open and we saw Rufus come out of it, glaring at Axel.
"A little?! Are you fucking kidding me?! You could've burned the whole school down, had it not been for Roxas's quick thinking!" He shouted, Axel blinking, then rolling his eyes.
"No need to be pissy, Mr. Shinra." Rufus growled and then looked at me.
"If he gives you any trouble at all, please, feel free to whack him since I can't. In fact, whack him even if he doesn't cause trouble, because he'll cause it eventually." He said, causing me to laugh a little at that as Axel crossed his arms.
"You two are the devil." I smiled.
"If we're the devil, doesn't that make you our right hand man, as you've said before?" He smiled.
"And that, my dear {Name}, is exactly why you two are the devil." He admitted, as Rufus rolled his eyes.
"Hey, right hand man. Get to work. And, for the record, I'm not the devil. And you wouldn't be his right hand man. You'd more than likely be his servant boy that he knows better than to trust because you have some sort of dirt on him." He said, walking back into his office, as Axel 'tsk'ed him then looked back at me.
"So, what brings you to my domain?" He asked, sitting down, as I smiled.
"I figure I had a couple of minutes to kill, and-" Rufus's office door opened and he blinked in confusion, then looked at me.
"Um, {Name}, there's a phone call for you..." He said, as I raised a brow.
"Is it Riku?" I asked, as he nodded. I shrugged, then walked over to him and walked into his office as he shut the door, leaving me alone. I walked toward the phone and picked it up, putting it at my ear.
"Hello?" I asked, as Riku sighed.
"Hey, {Name}? Yeah...I think I'll be home in a week this time. Maybe longer, I dunno." I blinked at this.
"A week?"
"Yeah. So, listen, money-wise, I know you're kind of low, you're gonna need a job. But, since you're not getting paid yet, go into my room and there's a credit card in the second drawer to the right underneath my clothes. I use those for emergencies, so, try and live off that for a while, alright? I have to take care of business around here, and I remembered that I only left you money for, what, 3 days? So, when you run out, just take that card and try not to max it out, alright?" He asked, as I nodded.
"Um...sure...I guess so...but, can I ask why?" He was silent for a while. It felt like an eternity, but after a minute, he finally answered.
"Would you mind...wishing me luck?" He murmured as I blinked.
"Luck? But, I don't understand, why-"
"Please." He said, breathlessly. I frowned, looking at the phone. I nodded.
"Um, good luck Riku...and please come home soon." I said. He still didn't say anything. It was another minute before he spoke again.
"...{Name}? I'll try and make that week 4 days, maybe 5, but I hope to God 4. Don't worry, I'm gonna come home, no matter what." He proclaimed with determination, one that I don't think I've ever heard before.
