"Hey," I said.
"Hey I'm Reece. I didn't get the chance to thank you for saving my life a little bit ago," she said with the sweetest smile I've ever seen.
She was genuine, that was for sure. She had shirt blonde hair that was wavy, she was pretty tall, and had blue eyes.
"Oh, no problem." I said.
"So I see you're not into Zach."
"I mean he's good looking, even a blind lemur could see that." I said obviously. She broke into laughter, and the best part, her laugh was worse then mine. She screamed at the beginning and then proceeded to imitate a chocking/ wheezing sound, which only made me laugh, which in turn made her laugh even harder. Once we were able to breath again she continued to tell me how no one had ever turned him down nor had anyone stood up to Jessica except her, Briaunna and I.
I liked Reece right away. We clicked just like Briaunna and I did. We traded numbers and I asked her how her tryout went. I had a feeling she made the team.
She asked if I wanted to come to her house after my tryout but I told her that I was with Bri, but that she was welcome to come to my house.
She said she'd have to ask her mom and would give me an answer after my tryout. Coaches voice was heard again as she called out my number. My hands got all clammy and I got really nervous. "Good luck," said Reece.
"Thanks, I need it," I laughed. Briaunna and I only had time to exchange a smile and agreed that we'd explain how each other's tryout went afterwards.
I stood in front of the coach and two other judges. "Your name?" asked one. "Sheila," I replied calmly.
"That's a pretty name," the coach replied. Zach and I's conversation made its way into my head and I quickly pushed it away so that I wouldn't laugh.
"Thank you," I replied.
"Well, show us what you've got."
Okay Sheila, you can do this. No one is watching, it's just you.
I did my 3 jumps that were required to try out and then began to recite the cheer and do the moves sharply, just how the judges like it.
I finished with a back handspring into a full and stuck the landing. The judges all clapped, including the coach, so I took that as a good sign.
"Results will be posted on the schools website tonight," said the other judge.
I was too nervous to say anything, so I jut nodded and smiled meekly. I rushed over to Briaunna who was seated next to Reece. I guess they had met before. "You did awesome!" They said in unison, which made us all giggle. "Thanks, so did y'all," I said.
"Y'all," they mocked me which was followed by a playful shut up from me.
Reece's mom had said yes and reece had said she'd be at my house by 6:00. We exchanged goodbye hugs as we went our separate ways.
"How do you think you did?" I asked Bri.
"I mean I didn't mess up so pretty good I guess, you?"
"Good," I replied. "I just hope that poor excuse of a female doesn't make the team, but I know she will. After all, she's daddy's princess," I said mockingly.
"Yeah," Bri replied. "Oh well, we'll make it through, together, that is if we make the team."
The remainder of the night was spent in wait as Bri, Reece, and I stared at the computer screen as if our stares will make the numbers appear faster.
At 9:00 the results were posted and we all eagerly looked at the screen. 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12 (ugh), 15, 16, 17, 19, and 20. We had all made the team, but unfortunately, so had the female dog. We were too exited to give her much thought though, so we just spent the rest of our time getting to know each other better.
We all became tired at around 11:00 after we had informed my mom that we had all made the team and after introducing Reece to my mom.
I actually couldn't wait for school to start, it's only a week away!
With school on my mind, it was kind of hard to fall asleep.
I began to think of everything that could happen and my heart rate quickened.
I just took deep breaths and calmed down and soon enough I was asleep.
