jace's point of view
"good night, jason."
she slightly smiles at me and trudges back to her house. i stand there, watching her, making sure she gets in ok. i walk in to my house, being met with xander.
"where did you go?" he asks, standing in the doorway.
"i was just outside. with maggie," i respond.
"with maggie? huh," he says, walking into the kitchen.
"why'd you say it like that?" i ask, following him into the kitchen.
he turns around, peeling an orange.
"no reason, just surprised isabela doesn't have a tracker device or a microphone contraption or something set up on your phone," he says, smirking.
"you think she's that bad, huh?" i ask.
he shrugs. "i guess i'm not a big fan of girls who flirt with a little brother's big brother when the little brother is in the bathroom."
my eyes widen.
"what? she what? huh?"
"yeah," he says, throwing away the peel and walking upstairs.
i stand in the kitchen, staring down, my mouth slightly open.
she couldn't have done that.
i sprint upstairs to get to xander's room.
"are you just shitting me? or did she actually hit on you?"
"jace, i wouldn't lie about something like that. believe me or not, whatever," he responds, opening his laptop.
"and you just told me about it?" i ask, still standing in the doorway.
"it wasn't much at all. she gave me her number and gave me subtle hints she liked me, like winking and crap," he says, glancing up at me.
i shake my head and wander to my room, shutting the door. i sit on my bed in disbelief.
i look to my window to see what maggie was up to. the same thing i was doing, sitting with a head full of thoughts.
i change into a baseball t-shirt and sweatpants, heading into my bathroom to brush my teeth.
i get into bed and try to fall asleep, only i can't. all i can think about is maggie.
