We drove for a little more than half an hour before reaching a highway packed with cars. You couldn't hear yourself think with all the honking and yelling of terrified people trying to leave town.

"Traffic jams at a time like this?" asked Julie in an agitated voice. We were all frustrated, knowing the cannibals were on their way and the current peace was only temporary.

"We can't do this. We are only teenagers." said Jenessa.

"It'll be okay." I said, trying to sound calm. I turned and faced Julie. "Lila will be awake soon and she will know what to do. She always does." I turned my head towards the backseat to find Riley raising an eyebrow at my comment.

"The roads are not the best idea. It'll take too long. Want to get to Montana soon? Cut through the woods, the forest is not very thick in this area. You could literally drive through it and be in Montana within two days." she said, running her hand through her hair.

"We do have extra gas in the trunk. We could make it." said Julie.

"What about Jared?" asked Stephen, not sounding concerned.

"Just leave him. We don't even know where he is." said Riley, trying to be reasonable.

"Leave him? That's my brother. He is gonna meet us in Montana. We already talked about it." Julie said, not even sounding upset.

"Should we, Ella?" asked Jenessa.

"No." I commanded. "Lila would be upset if we made that decision without her." I looked at her as I said that. Hoagie was on Riley's lap, licking the dirt off of Lila's face.

"Don't you think she would be more upset if you all got eaten by the undead and never made it to Montana?" she said sarcastically, but holding a serious face.

"We have time to think about this. For now, let's focus on getting out of this traffic jam." I said, turning back around and holding back laughter at what Riley just said.

The honking of the cars began to get quieter. Maybe people are finally moving their asses. Then the honking stopped altogether. I stuck my head out the window to try and look around.

"Nothing is happening." I said, as I folded my arms irritatedly.

"Ella." said Stephen in a very worried voice. Jenessa and Julie both turned their heads to look out the driver's side of the car.

"Roll up your window, Ella. Now."
said Riley, staring out Stephen's window. I did as she said while trying to see what they were looking at. Riley put Hoagie on the floor by her feet. She pointed to the side of the road, attempting to help me locate where they were focusing. I finally could see what everyone was looking at. Oh shit.

There were two dogs, one walking behind the other. The one behind had the looks of what used to be a German Shepherd. The one in front was much bigger. It had the build of a wolf. Neither of them had much fur left, and their skin was mostly gone. You could see their muscles flex and release as they walked. Their eyes were bright red and their teeth were just as white as any other dogs. They were undead, and they were terrifying.

The smaller one turned around and growled. We could hear it from ten feet away. The dog focused on a little white Honda. It just stood there and sniffed the ground before suddenly leaping inside the car window. We heard a man scream from the car. Hoagie leapt onto the seat and began to bark in the direction of the screams. The undead wolf heard the barks and shot his eyes directly at our car.
