An actual rant??

Fanfic Writers.
Hence what most of us are.

People write stories here on Wattpad, a lot being fanfics. So you know what I don't get?

How people take it too seriously.

Okay, I have a decent amount of reads on my books. (Cause team crafted fandom didn't fuck around) but I have not once let 'fame get to my head.'

Someone messaged me a while ago, wanting me to read their book. I was harsh to them and they were bragging about two thousands reads. Don't let fame get to you, guys.

This is because, I wanted to check up on this popular team crafted account.

They left Wattpad to become an author.
Um.
Honey.

For those who know, yes this is about the one and only, OliviaLovesSnow.
She just started tenth grade (this year, I'm guessing) and she is trying to get a book published?? Yes, it's possible to do but.
Seriously?

Yes, she has a million reads on one of her books. But, sorry to be harsh, but she isn't that good of a writer.
Yes, she's pretty good. But, not as good as actual authors.

*Says the one who isn't as good either*
Yeah, yeah. I also want to publish a book, but. Not right now. Or maybe do a children's book first! Something easy.

People have told me to try and get my books published. I would love to. I would love to rewrite ABW and just change it to made up celebrities and take out some parts.

I know people HAVE done that, too. But here's the thing, those people have millions UPON MILLIONS of reads. Take the 'After' series, which was a One Direction fanfic. Which is, uh, kinda gross at some parts and has sexual abuse but whatever! It's Harry Styles!1!

Anyways, back to my books. I would publish my books like that. But hey, guess what?
No one would read it.
Maybe some of my friends, etc etc.
Or even, the publisher wouldn't like the idea.
That's the tough reality.

It isn't easy to publish a book. Not at all. An old teacher of mine, tried getting a children's book published. And she's been trying to do it for a year.

So hey, say you have a fanfic. It gets a thousand reads. Be as happy as you want, riot even. But do not, let the fame get to your head. Same if you get ten thousand, a hundred thousand, a million. Just do not let the fame get to your head.

Just ask Natalie, honestly. Every time she brings up my books, I still talk about how I can't believe it got popular. I take that shit for granted, if anything. Natalie is the only one who I really talk about my fanfics with.

One of my old favourite authors, published his first book when he was in seventh grade. Don't you know how much that inspired me? It basically made me want to keep writing. So, I did. My grammar has improved, as has my spelling. Though, I still mess up a lot when quickly texting my friends. So what? I'm a child, it's what we do. That's exactly it. I'm a child, I know I probably won't publish a book yet. Maybe not ever. I'll survive.

Wow this is getting long, but I want to get my message across.

Don't rush things.
Don't let fanfic reads get to you.
Just, take things slow, okay?

I may say this, and then pitch an idea to a publisher next year. If I do, come yell at me.

Anyways, I'm out. Have a nice night
