With fanfictions.
First of all: When they aren't that long. I know, they shouldn't be /extremely/ long. (I'm sorry to you ABW series fans. 2/3 of the fanfics were long af)
But at least over thirty chapters. If you do have twenty or less, at least make the chapters long. To add detail and fucking plot.
Another thing. Have a fucking cover. That isn't just a photo. I mean one with the title, a background, and your name. I know not everyone can make them. Some people on Wattpad make books that are made for making others covers.
I know I'm not that good at making covers, but hit me up if you want one. It has to be of a fandom I'm *in* (aka probably the YouTube fandom) but hey, I'll do it. Having a cover gives it a more, professional vibe.
And if you're going to write a fanfiction that involves pretty bad shit, add a warning in the description or before the chapter. I didn't do this before and I feel awful. I now added those warnings.
Also: If it's a love story, don't make the person say they love the other in the first chapter. That's rushing it. It takes time to build up romance. A lot of time, trust me.
Make the characters have the same personality *unless* it's an au (alternate universe) then it's fine. Because it's a different universe in all.
Try your best to edit. I know I don't edit every chapter and there are some typos. At least try, though. It really makes it easier to read. Also, do not write like 'u' 'ur' and things like that. Unless the character is texting, then go ahead. 'Cause I do that all the time.
Don't get upset if you don't have a lot lf reads. It takes fucking time, trust me.
Also. Do not say "next chapter will be posted after I get ___ votes!" Cause that is a guilt trip.
Try to be creative. I'm one to talk, I know. (Though I was one of the first 'adopted by tc' fanfics so stfu) Yes, with Bombshell Blonde, high school aus aren't creative. But I use ideas that are. That's what I like about it, others like it too. And no, famous people adopting/bullying/being related to/etc your character? That isn't fucking creative.
