Chapter 3

“Good morning Master Leo,” greeted his butler when he walked into the house from his jogging the next morning. “What would you like for your breakfast, sir?” pouring the orange juice on the glass and placed it on the table.

“The usual, George,” he said and went to sit at his favorite place at the balcony facing the sea. He never got tired with the scenery around the mansion. The place was beautiful. The backyard was facing the sea of their owned private beach. He loves this place and that’s the reason why he decided to spend his whole summer here before going to college in Boston.

The party ended late last night and his parents have been introducing him to their friends and partners throughout the party. By the time the party ended he didn’t managed to look for George the butler to ask him about his mysterious girl. He was out jogging early in the morning as he was unable to close his eyes thinking about her.

George finally came in with his breakfast, “Your breakfast, sir,” he said and placed it in front of him.

“Thanks George,” acknowledged Leo and when George make his move to leave the place, Leo called his name, “Ah, George. I have something to ask you,” Leo said and George came to stand in front of him like an obedient butler.

“Yes, sir,” he politely reply.

Leo chuckled at George response, “Can you please stop calling me Sir? You make me sound so old.”

“Yes, Master Leo,” nodded George obediently.

Leo chuckled again, “Just Leo, ok. You can call me Master Leo in front of my parents and guests,” he told him

“Yes, ma…er Leo,” George nodded again and smile, “What would you like to ask me?”

Leo smiled back at him, “Do you remember last night, there’s two girls at the party?” he started, “Do you know who are they?”

“Which two girls?” George asked trying to recall which one Leo is referring to at the same time hoping that Leo is referring to someone else.

“The one that you helped her carrying her friend out, the light pink dress girl with chestnut hair and her friend with darker hair without a mask,” Leo pointed out. “I saw you talked to her and then helped her.”

“Oh,” George stammered, quickly thinking of an answer, “You mean Niki…er Miss Edward?” he asked but keeping his fingers crossed on his back.

“Miss Edward?” Leo tried to interrogate.

“Miss Nikita Edward, Mr. James Edward’s daughter,” George clarifies.

“Hmm,” said Leo rubbing his chin happily thinking that he already found his mysterious girl’s name. “Do you know anything about Miss Edward?” he asked.

“Miss Edward?” George questioned and Leo nodded. George looked relieved when Leo asking him about Nikita, “She’s the only daughter of Mr. James Edward, sir. She’s the same age as yours and going to college after summer that is in July,” he explained.

“You seem to know her very well,” said Leo smiling at George at the same time munching his toasted bread.

“Not really, sir,” replied George. “But she grows up here and she has been very friendly with everyone. She is such a pretty and beautiful young girl with a very kind heart.”

Leo chuckled, “Yeah, she is beautiful,” he said dreamily while biting up the balance of his toast. He gave George a satisfactorily smile. George was happy to see that Leo has forgotten about the other girl.

He was about to asked Leo anything else when Leo asked him again, “But, her parents didn’t come last night, right?”

“No, sir, they have another function to attend,” confirmed George.

“So she came alone?” Leo asked.

“No, sir, she came with a friend,” informed George.

“The one she’s gone home with last night?” Leo queried.

“Yes, sir,” nodded George.

“Ms Edward is the one with the mask right?” Leo queried again.

“Err…” George hesitated at first doesn’t know whether to tell Leo the truth. What happen if he lied? Worst is what will happen if Leo knows he lied? “No, sir, the one without a mask,” he finally tells Leo.

“Oh,” Leo realized that he has mistaken the girl, “Who is the girl with the mask?” he queried.

George gulped looking at Leo who was staring at him. He was awry, don’t know whether he should tell Leo the truth who’s the girl was but in the other hand he needs to protect her.

Leo looked at George who seems hesitated to tell him the truth as if George is hiding something. George bit his lips and put his hand under his chin pretending to think and then glanced at Leo who was waiting for his answer patiently “Err….. I’m not sure who her friend was. She has a mask on her face. I couldn’t recognize her.”

Not satisfied with George reply Leo asked again, with a very stern voice, “Are you sure you can’t recognize her? I saw you talking to her.”

“Yes, I did talk to her but I still couldn’t recognize her. Miss Edward has so many friends,” George responded.

Leo looked at George and he could feel that George is hiding something from him. He’s somehow feels that George is trying to protect the girl’s secret but why?

“Are you hiding something from me George?” Leo asked with an authority voice.

George was getting nervous again when he saw that Leo is waiting patiently for him to answer. Damn, George cursed in his head, what should he tell Leo? Would he be angry if Leo knew that it was his niece last night at the party? His niece, who was the uninvited guest of the party? His employers will definitely blow their tops if they find out that she came to the party. Her mother will receive a stern warning and most probably her job is at stake. The Hendricks never like unauthorized and uninvited guesses especially those who are lower standard than them to the party even though she came to the party with a friend who is as rich as them.

George looked at Leo who’s wearing a serious look. He gulped and stuttered, “Err… I..,” he was about to answer when Leo’s mother walked in.

“Morning Honey,” she greeted Leo, “You are up early,” kissing his head and sit besides him.

“Morning mother,” acknowledge Leo turning his attention to his mom.

“Morning, madam,” greeted George, “Would you like me to bring your breakfast,” he asked her at same the time placing a napkin on her lap.

“Yes, George,” she nodded her head.

George bowed and immediately making his way out with a relief feeling. His niece is safe from Leo for time being.

“So do you have any plan for today?” Leo’s mother asked.

“Nothing at the moment,” Leo replied with a loud sighed glancing at George who has left the balcony almost immediately. Damn Leo cursed in he’s head.
