The sun was especially warm for it to be April but no one was complaining. Taking the driver's hand Emily stepped out of the car and walked into the palace. Happily Emily waved hello to the servants as they passed. It had been months since the last time Emily had been to her home away from home and was happy to see the place.
"Eddie my man," Emily smiled.
"They are in the garden miss," he said.
"Awesome!"
"Happy to have you back."
With a high-five Emily hurried out back to see everyone. Immediately her godson spotted her and he came running into her arms. Picking him up Emily checked him out to see if there had been any major changes since the last time she had seen him. He was growing bigger every day but his joy filled blue eyes and short brown hair were still the same.
"Bring me?" he asked.
"What did I teach you?" Emily asked.
"Hi, bring me?" he garbled.
"That's my boy Louis," she smiled. "Come on lets go find Uncle David."
Emily put Louis down and took his hand as they walked towards the royal tent. Happily she hugged everyone then took her usual place across the table from David. They were her second family no doubt and all of them loved her, well most of them did.
"How long are you here?" Elizabeth asked.
"Until about May," Emily shrugged.
"Do you ever plan to take a break?" Elizabeth asked.
"Maybe when I can’t move around the stage as well," Emily guessed.
Elizabeth stared at Emily amazed then proudly smiled. She was older but much younger then most queens with her experience. Emily's second mother had short blonde hair and the happiest blue eyes ever. There was always a distinguished regal way about her even when Emily had her on public transportation.
"What's in May?" David asked.
"I get back in the studio," Emily smiled.
"You just finished a world tour," he exclaimed.
"Its one session besides I do need to get state side," Emily said.
David had been Emily's best friend for a decade and was her main guy even though they had never dated. He had the family's blue eyes that were always happy and military cut black hair. Some how he managed to stay Emily's best friend even though they were almost polar opposites. She was more of a jeans and t-shirts person and David was more of a three-piece suit person.
"Lets take a walk," David smiled.
"That's funny," Emily laughed.
"Humor me please," he said standing.
"Why not," Emily shrugged, "you gave me a laugh."
Promising to come back Emily said goodbye to Louis and Elizabeth then followed David away from the tent. Curious she followed David back into the palace and upstairs. She didn’t understand what he was doing she thought he wanted to talk but he wasn’t saying anything. Every time Emily tried to say something David would just mumble something unidentifiable then the conversation would die out again. Finally he stopped in front of a pair of double doors and stared at her, just stared.
