The American Princess

Chapter Fourteen

     Emily knelt down and welcomed Louis with a great big hug as he ran off the plane. She was so happy to have him out in Los Angeles even if he was only there for the weekend. Usually they would hang out at Disneyland, run around parks, go swimming, and she would spoil him but this weekend was going to be especially awesome. It was All Star Weekend in the basketball world and Eric was involved in all of it so they were going to all the events possible.

     “You cannot spoil him like this,” David warned.

     “Its his Uncle Eric not me,” Emily said quickly.

     “He has no chance.”

     “Oh come on yee of little faith.”

     The three of them headed over to Staples Center and watched the All-Star celebrity game with Eric. He loved Louis as much as Emily and always had a new jersey for him to wear. After the game Eric took him out on the court to meet everyone and shot around before he had to get ready for the Rookie Sophomore game. During the game instead of sitting with Emily and David Louis got to sit on the bench with all the guys making Emily a little jealous.

     Louis was all smiles all day long as the sophomore team took him in as an honorary member. By the time it was time to go home he was exhausted and David had to carry him to the car. When they got home Louis demanded to sleep in his new jersey Uncle Eric had given him. Emily couldn’t help but take a picture to show everyone at the office how cute he was.

     The next morning Emily took Louis out to breakfast before taking him to see the three-point shootout. He got to take pictures with all the contestants before the competition began and watch wide eyed as the guys moved around the court. He loved basketball everyone was sure he was going to play it as soon as he possibly could. What really excited Louis was the dunk contest though.

     “Don’t embarrass me out there,” Emily joked.

     “Don’t let your jaw drop to the floor,” Eric smiled.

     Quickly they bumped both fists and gave a quick hug before Eric took the floor. Emily had no clue what to expect but was sure it was going to be great. The other guys had dunked from the free throw line, under one leg, and dunked two baskets at once if Eric had a chance of winning he had to do something good and he did. Eric amazed everyone as did a 360 in the air and dunked on the first try. The whole place was on their feet clapping for him. The second round he struggled but the final round he had everyone in awe. Everyone including Emily and Louis stood up and watched breathless as he dunked over the trunk of a car. Immediately he ran and hugged Emily before running over to his coach and the rest of the dunkers. Immediately everyone started voting and applauded when Eric was name as the winner.

     “Congrats twin,” Emily smiled.

     “We’ll celebrate later I’ve got to go,” Eric said quickly.

     “Don’t forget us little people,” she yelled.

     “Never!” he smirked.

     Proud of her brother Emily stuck around for a little while watching him do interview after interview. Taking Louis home for dinner and some much needed sleep Emily handled some business and posted pictures from the day. When David came home from his meetings Emily couldn’t wait to tell him all about the day. He was even impressed just by the story and after watching the video he was amazed.

     “I can’t believe he’s going home already,” David pouted.

     “We will see him soon enough,” Emily smiled.
