My mother walked in just fifteen minutes after I got out the shower. She had her light orange hair wrapped in a tight bun on top of her head and had a red trench coat that touched her knees. I simply shut my bedroom door tight, hoping she wouldn't question me about why I was getting dressed. I had a date. For the first time in a whole year since my last boyfriend Seth took me to the carnival. Then dumped me while we were on the Ferris wheel so I wouldn't run away crying. It was tough to hold it in, especially while he gave me the 'we can still be friends' speech. I truly didnt understand that dumbass boy. I mean we had a four year relationship, I'm pretty sure we would've been married. All that down the drain in a matter of four words. I like your friend. Well my ex friend Marie, who moved back to Hawaii soon after. So Seth lost me and he didn't get the other girl.
But a year later now here I was getting dressed for a date with Kenneth Collins. Take that Seth. I brought out a curve hugging black dress. It stops just below my butt and has diamond studs going around the collar part. It has long sleeves and a nice lace part going down my back. I straighten my hair all the way down and let it hang. I slip on my silver watch and fasten my platinum bow earrings. Then apply a dark shade of gray under my perfectly arched eyebrows. I coat my lips in the devilish red lipstick, then pucker them.
I open my door to try to sneak out. But get stopped short by a sneaky familiar voice,
"Tessa! You look beautiful! Where are you going?"
I turn slightly to see my mother, now dressed in her red silk PJ's. Glee all over her face. I think she already knew I was dressed like this for a man.
"Out," I mumbled opening the door wider.
"Well out where?" She took a step closer. I shut my eyes tight anticipating the long haul of speech and pictures that would follow my words. Then I changed direction.
"With Kingsley and Murph to a concert and bar."
"Dressed like that?" She took a step back and looked me up and down with her large brown eyes.
"Yes, mom. I want to look nice. I'll see you in a few hours." I put one foot out the door.
"About what time will you be home?"
"I don't know mom," I whined. "Maybe 2,"
"In the morning?!"
"Yes mom, now goodnight!" I shut the door loudly and strutted all the way to a taxi.
I got out at a huge glass building that was attached to an outdoor patio. The patio was strung with colorful lights and tiki torches with low flames. It was empty and the only person leaning on the entrance was my date. In a classic black and white suit. I could see those gleaming pale blue eyes from afar. And those pearly whites grow as his smile went from ear to ear.
"Well hello, hello." He cooed reaching a hand out to me. I grasped it and he led me to a nice table in the center of the empty patio. "I'm glad you came." He slid my chair out.
"I can't see why I wouldn't, I mean my date is just overly handsome." I shrugged sitting down. He ran over to his chair and slid in blushing.
"Well, I'd better make conversation before he shows up.."
We both start laughing. And let me tell you, a British laugh is the sexiest thing.
"I reserved the entire place for us, baby." He grabs my hand softly. "I didn't want us to get interrupted by crazy fans and screaming girls.."
"That's sweet of you." I looked around at the blank place. This wasn't just any date. I was with a celebrity.
"So, what would you like to talk about? We have all night,"
