This is just about the most awkward of my life. My family is all staring at me waiting for me to kiss this psycho in front of my boyfriend. Make up some excuse, I told myself.
"Um...I can't. He's not my boyfriend." I stammered but Mom wasn't having any of it.
"We don't break traditions, sweetie. Its just a peck then we go on about our dinner."
If I didn't know any better, I would've thought that her and every other female in this room was living bicuriously through this kiss.
"Yeah," Steven sighed. "You can't break a tradition." He was flashing a big, arrogant smile.
"Go on, kiss." Frankie teased in a low tone. I looked around and suddenly Ken had disappeared. Maybe if I did this quickly I could get it over with. I hands flapped at my sides in anxiousness.
"Fine," I mutter loud enough for them to hear. "Make it quick."
"Now you of all people know," He slid his hands along my cheeks. "I like to take things slow." I could feel myself shiver as I could feel his breath just inches from my lips. Then I felt like I was floating. No wait.
I was floating.
I was over someone's shoulder and judging by the set of glutes. It was Ken.
"Pardon me, there will be none of this." He walked me down the hallway into my old room as Steven followed behind.
"Put me down," I flailed. This was pretty embarrassing that I was being taken away like a kid. In front of my family. I heard the door shut as he set me on my feet. "What's wrong with you?" I lightly smacked his chest.
"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you! You were about to kiss that asshole. In front of your family." He practically screamed in my face and pointed over my shoulder to Steven.
"Nothing is wrong with me, it's a tradition." I cried.
"Tradition my ass, if you didn't want to do it, You wouldn't have done it."
"We didn't do it anyway!"
"Yeah because of me. If I hadn't butt in at the last second you would've done it. And don't you dare lie to me."
I could only stare at him in silence, secretly pretty ashamed.
"Exactly, stop being so stupid!"
"Don't talk to her like that," Steven growled from behind me.
"Butt out of this before I make you wish you never came."
"Oh I'd like to see you do that." he took a step forward and I pressed his chest.
"STOP IT!" I whisper yelled. "We were doing good!"
"Yeah until your family wants to make you kiss other people." Ken growled. "I'd
never kiss another girl. Ever."
"Well that's your issue buddy boy," Steven perked up his eyebrows.
"Just get him out of here please, Tessa."
"Where is he going to go?"
"Far away land! I don't care."
"You wanna make me leave?" Steven raised an eyebrow and swatted my hands away from his chest.
"Don't tempt me."
"HEY. We only have dinner to survive and as far as I'm concerned you two never have to see each other again. Got it?" I look back and forth between their death stares and they both nod slowly. "Okay, now act normal. Nothing happened?"
