It was Halloween today. I'm in the kind of age when I don't know what to do on a day like this. I'm too old to go trick-or-treating, I guess. But, I really enjoyed doing it. It's fun to go knocking around and scooping up as many candies as you can. I'm not even sure what I'm going to dress up as today. I didn't put a lot of mind into thinking what I should dress up as. It would be ideal to choose something easy as I'm too lazy to put on make-up and heavy costumes. When I was younger, I used to be really excited for Halloween. So much that I started putting my costume together from a month ago. Now, I don't really have a thing for it anymore. It's like one of those celebrations you have to be a part of.

I went down the stairs to find Doniya watching T.V. and dad busily reading newspaper. Mom was in the kitchen making breakfast. "Good morning."- I smiled. Dad greeted me but, my sister said-"Go brush you teeth, you idiot." She's only one year older than me yet she acts as if she's the guardian and I'm a toddler. I love her, anyway. Not having her around would make my surroundings so dull. Those sarcastic comments of hers give me life. After we all sat down at the table with our plates, we chatted about everything- my school life, Doniya's boyfriend (whom dad doesn't like), how bad dad's job sucks and mom made a new recipe. To be honest, I don't really appreciate my family very often but, I'm lucky to have these people. We have been through everything together; I love them more than anything. It's these family interactions that make you realize how worthless you would have been if you didn't have them. I love them to death. Then we went on to discuss Halloween. I think everybody knows what they are doing today except me. That didn't come as a huge surprise.

My phone rang and I looked at the caller's name. Lilac. On a fresh Sunday morning, Lilac Hudson is the first person to call me to talk about god-knows-what. I took the call and let her chirpy voice fill my ears. This girl is never low on energy, even in the mornings. She was pretty pumped about Halloween, not because she wanted to dress up as something but, she wanted to visit the Haunted Castle that had opened a few blocks away from us. It was basically an amusement park. A scary amusement park. But, people say the building in which it is made is actually haunted. She wanted to go there. I'm not a fan of dark places but, I didn't want her think that I'm a wimp so I agreed and I'm pretty sure I heard her squeal right after that. Okay, so I had plans for today. Not having homework that's due tomorrow was a plus point. It looks like I'm going to have a good holiday. When I opened my laptop, I got another reason to be happy. "Melanie Ryan drops another song- Power!" Yayy! Can this day get any better?

"You left the town
and so they thought
they can tear me down
'cause I was already
fading away.
You chose to love me but,
you just didn't know what
to say.
But, I got the power more
than those who never loved me.
Oh yeah, I got the power."

Magical, just magical. The vocal strength she has is amazing. Melanie is the Queen! I spent some more time obsessing over her and went on to get some work done until evening.

My sister was in her room, busy putting on cat ears and some eye make-up. "You look good, sissy."- I smirked. "Thanks, kid," I figured that I didn't have to dress up as anything because we aren't going trick-or-treating or to any party. We're just going to have fun at the Haunted Castle. Just Lilac and I. I like the sound of that. I got a text from her that read-"I'll be there in a few minutes. xx" So, I have got a few minutes to fix my hair and change into something a more appropriate than baggy shorts and a t-shirt. I put on a white shirt and a blue jacket over it with a pair of dark jeans. I combed my hair and peered at my reflection for a while to make sure I look remotely dressed up. I opened the door after I heard to doorbell go off twice. I'm glad Lilac didn't dress up or anything because it would have been awkward because I look simple. She was wearing a dress and her hair, as usual let loose around her shoulders. "Ready?"-she asked. "Yep."
