As the bell rung, signaling the end of the day, everybody pushed past me like they were dying to get out of here. Of course, they were. It was a Friday, everybody had plans and they were excited for them. When it comes to me, I don't want anything more than a cup of coffee, a good book and a quiet corner where I can snuggle up and read. I have always been like this; I never needed a lot of friends to have fun with. I'm enough for myself.

After a short walk, I reached my home as I didn't live far from school. "I'm home. Mom, are you here?"-my voice echoed along the walls as I pushed open the door. She wasn't here, must be at work. I made myself a pancake and chugged down some milk. I was extremely hungry since I skipped lunch a school to do graffiti on one of a classroom's walls. Yes, I skipped lunch for that and I was asked by a teacher to do so. Art was one of my passions among reading and music. Everybody at school knew how much I loved to draw. I found joy in colors and comfort in the smell of paint. It's so much fun to let your hand guide you and then, you make something you are proud which makes others happy too. Art is the most beautiful form of expression; I have a lot of respect for it. Our art teacher wanted the art room to look nice so, she asked me to design them. I was more than willing to do it. I didn't care if I had to miss lunch for it; it was such a good opportunity for me because at home- mom wouldn't let me spray paint the walls. Not even in my room.

I checked my laptop and I got really excited when I read the headline-"Melanie Ryan drops a new song from her upcoming album, listen here!" I had been waiting so eagerly for this day. Nothing makes you happier than hearing your idol's new song for the first time. It feels so special. It's a new tune and you already know it's going to be stuck in your head for a long time. Melanie has been my idol for six years. I have grown with her and developed as an individual. Her music has helped me through tough time and I am so thankful for the day my friend recommended a song of hers to me, six years ago. Since then, I have been dedicated to her. I have a huge crush on her; I loved those brown curls and perfectly shaped black eyes. Every time she would release an album, I would buy it the very next day. Her voice was perfect; it made the lyrics of the song sound so melodious that they won't leave my head for days. I adored her. The lyrics she wrote were related to the experiences of her life and they defined my life in so many ways. I could relate to her even though she was miles away.

Melanie's new song was called-"It's over." I'm guessing by the title that it's about her ex-boyfriend Evan Fisher. I never really liked him but, since she was head over heels in love with him, I shipped them, just for the heck of it. He cheated on her and she totally did not deserve that. Anyway, when I started listening to the song; I felt like I was in heaven. The way all the words perfectly roll of her tongue and how she lets out occasional sighs in-between the lyrics makes me want to run all the way to America to give her a hug, I'm not even joking. I wonder why she didn't win a Grammy yet. The lyrics were pretty good; I was on the verge of sobbing by the end. She always keeps getting better and better. I'm glad I chose her as my idol. I don't care when people judge me by my music taste, I'm proud of the kind of music I like.

I decided to go to the library since I needed new books to read. The library always felt very welcoming. I could stay there for hours and read, no one would disturb me. I never felt the need to make a lot of friends because I had books, food, music and of course, Melanie Ryan. I entered the library and the warm air washed over me, it never fails to relax me. The librarian, a woman with blonde hair and a nice smile, greeted me. This was a daily schedule, I came here often so, we have talked quite a lot of times. I went to the comic section; I was in the mood for reading something superhero-ish. After selecting a comic when I sat down on one of the chairs, I spotted Lilac Hudson, one of my classmates repeatedly tapping on her phone. She was a tiny blonde with blue eyes and she was an introvert too, like me. She had always been nice to me whilst other people at school think I am some sort of freak because I keep to myself and don't interact with many people.

As I was going through the pages of my comic, I suddenly remembered about how we had to choose partners for a project in history and I wasn't sure of whom to choose. Lilac seemed pretty nice and this was a good opportunity so, I made my move. I wasn't big on talking to girls but, she was so much like me so, I was less hesitant. I walked to her chair and as I was about to tap her shoulder, I noticed something in her phone. She was on Wattpad, writing something. There was a picture of Melanie Ryan attached to the file too. "Hey, Lilac!"-my sudden greeting startled her but, she got a grip soon. "Hey, Zayn."-she responded. "I was wondering if..." I scratched the back of my neck; it looks like I was asking her to go to prom with me. Oh lord, I'm so bad at this! "I was wondering if you would be my partner for the history project. Her frown loosened as she said "Sure. I was looking for a partner too." "Well, great then."-I said, unsure of how to continue the conversation. "Hmm... I'm going to ask you something. If you don't mind."-I wanted to ask her about what she was doing on Wattpad. "Yeah?"-her blue eyes gleamed with curiosity. "Do you write fanfiction about Melanie Ryan?"-I asked. I didn't know how she was going to react. Her face completely twisted and her mouth made an "o" shape. I regretted asking the question, I was about to walk away by saying-"Never mind."

She stopped me and asked-"Do you like Melanie Ryan too?" "I love her."-I stated. "We should be best friends!"-she squealed a little too loud. The librarian looked over to us and put a finger on her lips as a signal to silence us. Lilac mumbled an apology to her. Then, she looked back at me and said-"I never found anyone who had the same music taste as me so, I got excited when you told me you like Melanie too. Sorry." She blushed because of embarrassment. I made her blush. I, Zayn Malik, made her blush. I know it wasn't anything big but, it was uncommon for me to make someone blush as generally, it was me who got embarrassed. "No need to say sorry, girl. I'm sure we can always team up and obsess over her music together."- I cracked a smile. She laughed and said yes.

After talking for a while, we discussed our history project. Both of us agreed to meet at my house tomorrow and work on it. To be honest, I was actually looking forward to it. Since, I had no plans for the weekend, nor did she and she was fun to be with. We understood each other more than others did and the bonus point was that we had the same idol.
