After a long bus journey, we finally reached our campsite. The ride didn't feel long though, I had Lilac by my side and Louis and Harry sat together across us and Liam and Niall took the seat behind us.
We were surrounded by tall trees all around. The air smelt nice and piney. I could hear water running somewhere; we were told a small river flows through here too. This is so exciting; I can't believe I wasn't ready to come here. They did a good job while choosing the site for us because this place is just perfect. I love being around nature because it's really comforting and I also get some nice sceneries to paint.
Talking of Lilac, she was standing beside me, taking in the view and looking mesmerized by all the beauty we were surrounded with. I took a deep breath and followed the others as I was accompanied by her.
We soon learnt that we have set up our own tents and set up the fire before it gets dark. It's cold at night here too. We better work fast. "And the boys set up their tents towards the right and for the girls it's in the left."-Mrs. Peach announced. Why were boys and girls segregated? I hate this; it means Lilac couldn't be in the same tent as me. She looked at me unhappily and said-"Oh, looks like I'm going to have to share the tent with Debby and her friends. This not how I wanted to it to happen. Anyway, enjoy yourself; we'll meet when they take us for doing other activities and during the meal times though." "Yeah, bye."-I replied. I was pretty bummed because she wasn't going to be with me.
"Hey, Zayn, come over here."-I heard Liam's boisterous voice as I saw him and the three others waving at me. I adjusted the strap of my backpack and walked towards them. "We can share the tent. All five of us."-Harry said. "They're only letting three people stay in one tent, Harry."-Louis commented. "Looks like we're going to need a bigger tent."-Niall snickered. "Yeah, let's set up a big tent then!"-Liam got serious now.
Liam and I were making the framework for the tent as Louis and Harry were doing the cloth stuff and Niall was doing God-knows-what. It took a lot of time to set it up as it kept falling off due to the strong winds that were blowing right now but, after a while it looked like it was ready to stand against a hurricane. We just set up a big, strong tent. When we were finally done with it, all of us stepped back and admired it.
"Time to go inside, boys!"-Louis exclaimed. All of us went inside, Liam was the last to enter and then, we zipped it up. "Wow, we did a good job."-I said softly. "Yeah but, I can barely see a thing, we need lights."-Louis spoke. "We'll have to light up candles."-Liam suggested. "What century is this again, Liam? Don't you have torches or something?"-Louis was so getting on my nerves now. I hoped to resolve our differences during this trip but, I could barely stay in the same tent as him. "Look Louis, I have an emergency light and two torches but, we'll only use them when we actually need them."-Liam sounded stern.
"Ah, okay guys, I need to pee."-Harry announced as we groaned. "I saw washrooms along the sidewalk from where we came. Go there."-Niall told him. "Thanks." Harry unzipped the tent and cold air gushed inside, we shivered. We didn't realize how warm this tent was until now. He peeked outside and turned back at us with a hesitant look. "What's wrong?"-I asked. "It's... ah...It has gotten dark outside, I don't think I'll be able to go alone and I really can't hold it in so..."-He trailed off. "Wait, I'll come with you, Harry."-Louis volunteered, smiling. I have always seen Louis being sassy and a person who bosses around but, I think he had a soft corner for Harry or something because they seem to get along really well.I decided to go out there and see how Lilac was doing. Shoving my cold hands into the pocket of my jacket, I went towards the girl's side and hoped there was no 'anti-boy' policy there. I had no idea about what tent she was in. I felt lost after looking for her for several minutes so, I decided to turn back but, then I was grateful that I caught a glimpse of her blonde hair. She was talking to a group of girls and laughing along with them. All of them had a cup of coffee in their hands. I waved at her and called her name. She looked towards me and smiled. The other girls turned to look towards me too. She walked to me and asked-"So did you set up your tent? Who are you sharing it with?" "Yeah, we did after a lot of hard work. I'm with Liam, Harry, Niall and Louis. It's so much fun but, I miss being with you."-I admitted. "You miss me, already?"-She laughed adorably. "I'm staying with Debby and Paula. Both of them are really nice girls. I talked to some other people here too, socializing isn't so bad though."-She said.
"I have to cross the 'border' to come over and see you. This policy is really dumb," I frowned. "Yeah, but, we can still meet each other, it's not like we're poles apart."-She beamed at me. "Well, that's true." We stood there, looking at each other for some time without saying anything. It felt nice looking into her blue eyes and attempting to read what was going through her mind right now. "Is this a staring competition?"-She whispered after a while. I laughed and shook my head at her. "You know Lilac; you ruined a perfectly romantic moment." "That was romantic?"-she smirked. "Kind of." "I'll see you at dinner, Zayn."-she said as I walked towards the boys' side.
