I felt a pair of arms sneakily wrap around me as I lazily rubbed my eyes, I wasn't ready to get up and I thought I needed more sleep so I just remained in the position I already was in. The grip of the arms tightened a bit around me and I heard soft laughter. When I finally opened my eyes, I found a pair of brown ones looking into mine. Liam! "Hey, get off me!"-I scowled. "Happy Birthday, dude. I was trying to wake you up and wish you but, I wasn't able to do so. We're going to have a blast today!"-Liam said enthusiastically.

I had almost forgotten that it was my birthday because I had been so caught up in the camp stuff and I always seemed to have Lilac on my mind so, yeah, I forgot my own birthday. Mom and Doniya had already given me my present a week ago since they knew they won't be able to see me today. I wonder if Lilac remembers it...

"Hey, hey!"-Liam snapped his fingers in front of my face and rambled on-"Get out of that little dreamy world of yours; we're going to go out and enjoy. After all it's your day!" I wasn't big on celebrating birthdays, I never threw a huge bash; I just celebrated with my family and a few close friends. That's the way I like it.

"So you're eighteen now, huh?"-Niall patted my back. "Yeah... A lot of things are going to change for me now," I shrugged.

"Let's go get a shower," Liam clapped his hands together to gain Harry and Louis' attention who were quietly huddled up in a corner, talking to each other.
They got up after a few minutes as Niall ranted "I don't want a shower, let's go get some breakfast first."
"I think Niall needs a shower," Louis snickered.

When we got back, I spotted Lilac near the cafeteria talking to some girls. I waved to her as she came towards me. "Happy Birthday, Zayn. I have something planned for us," She smiled.
She remembered my birthday. That thought made me flash a big grin at her as I thanked her and sat down to the seat next to hers.

"You're an adult now, free to take your own decisions. You must feel like a free bird,"- she shook her head.
"Quite the opposite, actually. As much as I would like to be on my own and take responsibility of stuff by paying bills, having a house of my own, I love to stay with my mom. I wouldn't know how to live without seeing her," I said.
"Aww, I understand. You two get along really well, you're really adorable. Your mom makes delicious cookies too," She laughed.

I kissed her cheek and told her that I'd see in the evening as I went to meet the boys to see what 'plans' they had made for my special day.

Today, we didn't have any lessons to attend or some research to do. We could do whatever we wished to.

As I walked towards our tent, I saw them all gathered outside it with a bottle and some snacks.
Boy, this is going to be interesting.

"Birthday boy is here, guys," Harry announced while putting an arm around me. They all cheered as Liam came forward to say "Zayn, we had limited resources. I had no idea how to organize an actual party from what we had so, I thought maybe we could play some board games and truth and dare while feasting on snacks? Does that sound good to you?"
Liam looked so nervous while saying this, as if my disapproval of his plan would break his heart.
Maybe it would.
I smiled at him and said their efforts alone meant a lot to me.

We sat down and agreed to play a game of truth and dare. The bottle rolled around and stopped between Louis and I. He wiggled his eyes and asked me to the name the girl I had my first kiss with. The other boys said that Louis should have come up with a better question but, he silenced them.

I suddenly felt flustered and remembered Carol, the only girlfriend I had before I met Lilac.
We didn't end up having a lot of things in common and to be honest, we weren't compatible at all.
So, the best for us was to split ways but, it didn't seem to go down well with her and she freaked out. I wouldn't want to go into the details; all I know is that after that I was scared to get into a relationship ever again. When Lilac came along, things changed.
