Chapter 8

I really have to do this? It's embarrassing. Lilac convinced me into playing "Truth and Dare" with her. It's really lame but, I decided to go along with it. I was simply choosing to take "truth" when the bottle turned towards me but, then Lilac said I needed to show her how daring I was. She dared me to put on some lipstick and post a selfie on my social media account. Yes, that girl is weird. I really don't want to do this. But, I'll have to. I can't believe that she's making me do this. Anyway, I borrowed a lipstick from my sister. When she asked why, I didn't have an answer. I took it and stood in front of the mirror for a long time, trying to figure how it will work. When I finally got the covering case off, I stared at the bright red shade. I'm going to look very funny. Just wait for your turn Lilac Hudson; I'm going to take my revenge! "You're going to look really hot, Zayn." I stared at the reflection of Lilac who was standing behind me with her arms crossed. "C'mon now. What are you waiting for? Put it on."-She ordered. I wrapped my finger around the point just below the lipstick's tip and bought it close to my mouth. "I hate you, Lilac."-I murmured and she just laughed. I nervously let it roam over my lips and looked at my reflection. I look horrible! "We're done. Let's get going!" "Nope we're not. The interesting part is still left. You have to post a picture, remember?"-she reminded me and I sighed in annoyance. I took my phone and unwillingly took a picture. I'm going to be the 'joke' of the school for the rest of the week. "C'mon post it."-she said eagerly. After I hit the "post" button, I sighed and looked at Lilac who was having a good time.

"Hey, can I use your laptop?"-she asked. "Sure." I watched her as she started typing away busily. "Would you like something to eat?"-I was pretty hungry myself. "Yep, if you don't mind."-she smiled. I went to get some chips for both of us. We decided to spend the evening together so that we could give finishing touches top our project but, we ended up fooling around. I have to admit that even though the Truth and dare game was lame, I had fun. As I was going upstairs-"Ahhhh" -I heard a shrill scream. Lilac! She screamed; something wrong must have happened. "Lilac, what's wrong?"- I practically flew upstairs, taking two steps at a time. When I entered I saw that she was comfortably sitting on a chair, facing the laptop. Why did she scream, she looks okay. But, when I called her name, she turned to me with a look of utter horror on her twisted facial features. Her eyes were as wide as saucers and her mouth hung open. "Sh-she answered. Sh-she did. I'm so lucky, oh my God!"-she shrieked. Who was she talking about? I had no clue. "Who answered Lilac?" "Melanie!"-with that she burst into sobs which I assume was due to happiness. It took me a while to understand the whole thing. She was acting crazy and she was happy because her idol, our idol answered her tweet a few minutes ago. I would probably be reacting in the same way if it were me, we all would. She was overwhelmed. Your idol replying to you has been a dream for most of us. She least expected it and now she's losing her mind.

I got interested and peeked into the laptop; after all she was my idol too! Lilac was busy taking screenshots of the tweet and chanting "I'm going to get this tweet tattooed across my face" whilst I laughed. She had asked Melanie if she would ever come to this side of United Kingdom. She never comes here; we'll have to travel a lot if we want to see her perform live. My mom wouldn't let me got to her concerts until I make my own money. I haven't seen her perform once in my entire life even though I'm a die-hard fan of hers. Melanie answered-"Yes, love. Maybe next year." Lilac's number of followers on twitter suddenly shot up and she felt like a celebrity. She added this in her bio-"Mel answered 30/10/2015". Of course, it was something to brag about. I mean I would do the same but, I guess I wasn't lucky enough. I think Lilac read my thoughts as she patted my back and said-"Don't worry; there will be a day when your idol will answer you too." I faintly smiled at her. She looked so happy, her blue eyes were all lit up and her smile showed off her pearly teeth. She was one of the cutest and giggliest people on this Earth.

Someone rang the doorbell, I went to answer it. Mom had ordered something online, it was the delivery guy. When I opened the door the boy gave me a weird look. I squinted but, said nothing. After signing the paper and collecting the package, I closed the door. As I was walking across the hall, I caught a glimpse of myself. The red lipstick was smudged and it was running down to my chin. My hair was messed up due to all the hassle I just went through recently. I looked like a vampire. Now, I know why he was giving me strange looks. I probably scared the delivery guy away. Look what you did, Lilac! I quickly washed my face and fixed my hair. When I went to my room, Lilac was picking up her belongings and she said-"My mom wants me to be at home right now. I got to go. Bye." We hugged each other before she left.

She is as crazy as me. She's the one who could actually be called a person who truly understands me. She isn't dull; she's lively. I find it beautiful. I think I'm lucky to be friends with someone who's like me. I decided to check my phone. My notifications were filled with people liking and commenting on the picture I recently posted with lipstick on. They're probably all rude comments. But, I changed my mind when I read them. They weren't rude; people assumed I did it for Halloween since it was right around the corner. "Cool make up. I think he's going to be dressing up as a Vampire or something."- Liam commented. Damn, I'm lucky. But, then Louis' comment made me frown-"Hey buddy, you look much better with that on." I was happy once again when I saw Niall's comment-"Keep your foul opinions to yourself, Tomlinson." These boys are funny, I love them. I love my new life- filled with colors, my boys and Lilac.
