Half an hour. I've been on this train for half an hour. It doesn't look like its stopping anytime soon. Great.
I look out of the window, seeing hundreds of trees standing tall and grounded as they whiz passed.
"Hi."
I jump slightly, then realise that it's just a boy.
"Uh, hi?" I say.
"May I sit down?" He asks. He has an accent, but I can't quite figure out what it is. Probably French.
"Excuse me, but may I sit down?" He asks again. Definitely French.
"Sure." I say. I don't look away from him, studying this strange boy. His hair is brown, but more of a caramel blonde colour, and his eyes are a light brown with little gold flecks swirling around like honey. My intense gaze seems to make him a little uncomfortable.
"Um, hello?" He says, giving me a look that implies that I'm a fish.
"Hello." I say.
He seems shocked by my level of attitude, but eventually everyone gets used to it.
"What is your name?" He asks in his thick accent.
I breathe in, about to speak when a thought hits me. He can't know my name. I'm a fugitive now.
I stop breathing for a second or two before saying, "Lillian Coiy. But you can call me Lilly. And who are you?"
"Pierre Di Valancia." He says.
"Woah. Pretty fancy name you got there!" I say.
He shrugs. "I guess."
I go back to staring out of the window and try to count as many trees as I can. 1,2,3
........
57,58,59
...........
124,125,126
...,........
I grow tired of counting trees and begin to fall asleep.
