Noelle P.O.V.

I woke up to the sound of the mail slot on the front door opening and closing. I ran down the stairs and grabbed the mail off of the floor.

I flipped through the envelopes until I found the one I was looking for. Boston University was imprinted on the top left corner of the envelope. I dropped the rest of the mail back on the floor and ripped the envelope open.

Dear Ms. Dunne,

Congratulations! We are delighted to offer you acceptance for your major Hotel Management. First semester start September 8, and we hope to see you there.

"OH MY GOD!" I ran out of my house and sprinted to where Michael lived, which is coincidently right across the street.

I jumped onto the front porch and grabbed the ring of the lion door knocker, hitting the door furiously.

I stepped back when I heard someone unlocking the door. The door opened and I saw Michael's sister, Katie.

"Hi Katie, is Michael in?" I asked.

"He's uh tied up."

"I can come back."

"He'll be done in about three minutes." I crouched over with my hands on my thighs, trying to catch my breath.

"You can come in you know." she said. She led me into the living room and we sat on the couch waiting for him to finish up whatever he was doing. Katie grabbed her magazine off the table and went back to reading.

I sat there, my legs bouncing and my hands fidgeting, excited to tell Mikey the good news. I was looking around the room that I knew so well when I started hearing a girl's voice.

"Is that...?"

"Mhmm, Bethany."

"So when you said that he was tied up you actually meant tied up?"

"Yup."

"Oh, well I should go then." I said, grabbing my things and getting off of the couch.

"They should be finished just about...now." At that very moment Bethany's voice was heard all throughout the house.

"Ohh Michael, where did you learn to do that." Katie said with Bethany, rolling her eyes while saying it. I grabbed the nearest thing next to me, which happened to be a bag, and threw up in it.

"I know, disgusting isn't it? You're lucky that you don't live here." I grabbed my stuff and hurried home, not wanting to see Bethany and Michael after hearing what I heard.

That incident at Michael's wasn't the first time that I've thrown up. For some odd reason, I've been throwing up everything that I ate.

I walked in the rain to the nearest drug store. Well, since I forgot my umbrella, I ran. When I got inside of the store, I was greeted to the sound of The Rolling Stones blasting throughout the place.

"Hello?" I heard something shatter and a chair scrape against the dirty floor.

"Hello?" I called out again, looking for someone to help me with my problem.

"I'm coming!" yelled a voice that belonged to a female. I walked up to the counter and waited for someone to show up.

A lady with short, bright red hair and a cigarette in her mouth ran up to the counter. She took a drag from her cigarette and put it in between her index and middle finger, slowly breathing out.

"Are you supposed to be smoking that in here?" I ask her, pointing to the cigarette.

"My parents own the place. So if they want me to help out, I'll set the terms. What's up?"

"Uh right. Um I've been feeling sick, like everyday. Maybe you can give me a pill or something?" She grabbed a clipboard from under the counter and looked at the paper that was attached to it.

"Any diarrhea?"

"No."

"Fever?"

"No."

"Stomach cramps?"

"No."

"Well have you missed a period?" she asked. I was supposed to start a few days ago, but I never questioned why it didn't come. Well, until now.

"Yea." She grabbed a pink box and handed it to me.

"No, no this can't be right."

"Are you a virgin?"

"No, but I took the morning after pill."

"It's 90 percent safe, 10 percent is the catch." I nervously eyed the box shaking my head in disbelief.

"There's a bathroom here if you would like to use it." she said. I glanced at her, and then back at the box.

"Can I use it please?" She led me behind the counter and took me to the bathroom.

"I'll wait out here for you, okay?" she told me. I nodded and went into the bathroom. I took the stick out of the box and peed on it, hoping and praying to God that the slot would not show two pink parallel lines.

I opened my eyes and sat down, not ready at all for what was coming my way. I looked down at the slot.

I'm pregnant.
