Noelle P.O.V

"If I told him then he would've never left and his life would be ruined too. What's the point?' I asked Ruby, eating ice cream and pickles out of a tub.

"Well if I were you, I would've forced the man to stay." she replied. Ruby was the lady who worked at the drugstore and ever since Michael left we were becoming closer and closer.

"Oh no, no he's not the father. It's some other loser."

"Wow, you're turning out to be a lot different than what I expected you to be. Like look at you, you look like the definition of a goody two shoes. But, how about you just get rid of the baby?"

"I can't, my parents are Catholic. I'm not as Catholic as them, but still. It'll feel wrong to me. I had my whole life planned out. Move to Boston, study, get a great job, at 27 I'll come back and own a hotel, and then I'll get married and have kids."

"You can-"

"And know its pregnant. have baby, become a full time mother, live off of benefits, get fat, lose hair..."

"Yea, you might as well just kill yourself now. I can sort the drugs. Look, there are tons of people in the world that want kids, but can't have any. Give it away." she suggested.

"Wait, that's a great idea! I can still move to Boston. I can apply to college again or get a job i don't care. Maybe I can live the life I want, but just 6 months later. I don't even have to tell Michael about it either, I can just think if an excuse."

"Woah there. That just wrong, you gotta tell him."

"Oh yea? Well I just think that it's the way to go."

6 Months Later

I was lying down on my back, resting a humongous bowl of popcorn on my swollen stomach. Today is family movie night, so we are all in the living room watching some movie that my younger brother, James, picked out.

My phone vibrated next to me on the couch. I picked it up and saw that Michael had texted me.

Hey Elle! Merry Christmas! I miss you soo much, I wish you were here already. When are you coming?

"Who was that?" my mum asked.

"Just Michael saying Merry Christmas and asking when I was coming."

"Have you told him yet? Told him about the baby?"

"I'm sending him my arrival time for when I land in Boston."

"All of this lying is going to catch up to you Elle."

"I'm not lying mom, just keeping some secrets. I bet he has secrets too." I replied. My little brothers were engrossed in the alien movie that they picked out. The T.V. showed a woman who gave birth to what she thought was a baby, but turned out to be a alien. Then, the alien ate her.

"Hey Elle, that might happen to you."

"It might." i replied before stuffing a handful of popcorn in my mouth.

"Yea, your belly will explode and the alien will leap out and bite your head, slowly killing you." My brothers started wrestling each other on the floor, spilling their bowl of popcorn in the process.'

"Boys, don't joke about that. Babies are a sacred gift from God. And stop fighting before I send you two to bed." my mum said.

"It can't even hear us."

"Yes it can, and don't call the baby an 'it'. A baby is a person too."

"It's a girl by the way." I said.

"You found out! When did this happen?"

"I asked when they did my last ultrasound. I thought we should tell the social worker so she can look for parents."

"A girl!" my mum said, coming over to where I was sitting to look at my stomach. "What names do you have in mind?"

"Oh uh I'm not naming her. I'm leaving that up to the new parents."

"Can we look at your belly, Elle?" James asked.

"Yea, sure." I took the bowl off of my stomach and placed it on the floor. I pulled my shirt up and instantly we saw my stomach moving.

"Aww, she has hiccups." I quickly pulled my shirt back down, not liking all of the attention I was getting.

"Yea, whatever." I said, once again eating popcorn.

---

I was trying to go to sleep, but I could still feeling the baby hiccupping in my stomach.

"Baby, can you hear me? Just hold your breath like this." I said before I started holding my breath. After a while I felt her stop.

"There you go, baby. Just like that." I leaned back in my bed and closed my eyes, ready for a long, peaceful night that included me sleeping.

I felt something wet in between my legs and on my sheets, like I peed on myself. But, I knew for sure that I didn't.

The baby's coming.
