Sarah didn't see much of Grant over the next few days. She was busy meeting with clients and catching up on her work. At least when she was busy she didn't have time to feel sorry for herself. She still managed to cry at odd times of the day. It was like her hormones got the best of her and she would weep over the silliest things. She tried hard to be professional in front of her clients but it was very difficult, especially when some of them asked about the baby. She briefly told them what had happened, but she managed not to cry in front of them. It was the hardest thing for her to do.

One evening Sarah was working in her office when Grant poked his head in the door and told her that he'd brought home some pizza for supper.

"You go ahead. I'm not hungry," she said, looking at the screen of her laptop.

"You need to keep your strength up, Sarah," Grant said sternly. "You've been working non-stop. You don't want to collapse, do you?"

Sarah sighed, closing her eyes. Grant was right. If she pushed herself too hard she wouldn't get anything done.

"I guess you're right," she finally said quietly. "I'll come have a slice."

"That's good," Grant answered, smiling at her.

They made small talk as they sat in the dining area and ate some pizza. Grant told Sarah about some of the projects he was working on. He was busy trying to finish some of them before their deadlines. He didn't want to disappoint his clients.

"I feel the same way about my clients," Sarah said. "It's hard not to get stressed out. How do you relax?"

"I work out on my gym equipment downstairs or I watch sports and drink beer. You know, typical guy stuff."

Sarah giggled. Grant didn't seem to drink that often so he must work out a lot.

"I made you laugh. That's awesome," he said, smiling.

She smiled back. Suddenly, Grant looked at her like he was going to kiss her. And she wanted him to. He broke eye contact with her and looked down at his plate.

"I hate to change the subject, but I want to remind you that the burial is tomorrow at one o'clock."

"Right. The burial," she echoed, feeling her sadness come back.

"It's going to be something simple," Grant said. "I hope you're not expecting a ceremony or anything."

"No, of course not," she replied, feeling her eyes well with tears. "A simple burial is fine."

She was glad Grant was going to be there. She didn't think she could get through it alone. That would be tortuous.

"Greg is not going to be able to make it and he sends his regrets," Grant said.

"It's a long way for him to come," she replied.

"He knows how devastated you are and he feels terrible about what happened."

"I'm sure he does," she commented dryly, standing up to do her dishes. Grant followed her into the kitchen.

"What's the matter?" Grant asked.

"I don't want to talk about Greg, if you don't mind," she replied.

"That's fine. We can talk about something else," Grant answered.

They chatted for a while longer then Sarah said she had to get back to work.

"Don't stay up too late," Grant said. "You don't want to overdo it."
