Chapter-10

ACCIDENT

“OH NO!” my voice came strained and dull.

Suddenly, our happy ride had turned into nightmare!

“Jenny! Jenny! Oh God!_ Can you hear me?” I said in weak voice which trembled with fear. For once, I couldn’t believe that it was my voice.

I tried to grab her head. Slowly and cautiously, I laid her head in my lap and soothe her forehead. She laid there motionless. I was grief-stricken.

What if something bad happened to her? God Grace! What am I suppose to do?

“Water!” Someone said, handing the water bottle.

“Jenny, drink it.” I tried to put some water in her mouth.

She didn’t open her mouth but her grip on my wrist tightened. I relaxed a little. Her reflex system was not affected.

She is going to be Okay!  I repeated to myself.

Why is she not getting up?

I could feel the hysteria growing again in my heart. My eyes were moist. A tear escaped my brown eyes soaking my eyelashes in them.

“Don’t cry! She will get well soon. Let’s take her to doctor.” Assured a boisterous voice, behind my back.  I didn’t look up, to see the source of voice.

I nodded, not trusting my voice. I wiped my tears from the back of my hand.

“I will take you. I have a car.” Someone said from the crowd.

Soon, people gathered there, caught her up by arms and legs and were cradling her into some stranger’s car. I slid with her in the back sit and another person slid with me cradling Jenny’s leg on his lap while I hold her head. Another boy, toss my and Jenny’s vehicle key from the window, which I caught at once, thanks to basket ball game.
