Chapter-2
Stranger’s Help?
Aarit has sensed my state of mind as he was being very patient and cool not to disturb me and let those emotions flow which had made their home in my grief-stricken heart. He was clever enough as he hid the fact that he was a psychiatrist and knew how to handle people and let them forget their worries and troubles.
In that moment I seriously felt like an idiot who couldn’t control herself…. But deep in my heart a torrent was taking its birth.
Finally when I regained consciousness, He quickly rose from the couch and went inside a room maybe his bedroom to search for something. He returned exactly after 180 seconds. Surprising. I really counted it! He bought a hanky might have been his mother’s and handed it to me. I quickly wiped my wet face and dry spots of tears running.
He showed me the way to washroom, I quickly entered in and closed the door on his face which now gave look of- OH! His façade make me want to smile but I held back, instead I gave him a wary smile, pleading him to understand.
The washroom was designed in old fashioned though it had many modern technology but its tile on wall had pale color and floor tiles where made up of chip. I opened the tap and kept it running for few minutes so that I could cry with it sound. I have never in my entire life had felt that vulnerable. That is maybe because I never cried infront to anyone. Or may be I had cried, No… that was not a proper crying, I think that was whining but at that time Aarav was there to hold me. Oh no! Stop it, I told myself.
I sobbed for few more minutes and then I saw my reflection in the huge mirror above the basin. It showed picture of a tall girl dressed in purple, her dimple deep in her cheeks, as if they could create a hole in her cheeks. Her forehead had a permanent mark of worried lines. Due to crying her cheeks had turned into dark pink color as if she was blushing. There were faint marks of tears making their way from eyes to her neck and spreading her eye liner a little.
I sighed.
At least I didn’t look like an ugly duckling.
Quickly I splash cold water on my face so that I could get my sense back and close the running tap. I wipe the tears with the towel hanging next to basin and tried to comb my hair back with my fingers to reduce their messy look. Ofcourse I couldn’t ask for a hair brush to this man. I wished I had my own!
After minutes of futile effort, I tried to compose my face to something which looked like Okay-I-am-fine! Reassuring that my favourite purple dress which hung till my knee has less crumble, I decide to step out to washroom.
