"Hannah!" screw caution! I attacked.
Greed pulled out his sword and threw her aside like a ragdoll and readied his blade, "You can't hope to beat me with your half-baked power!" he mocked as he swatted me away with a swing of his golden sword.
I slammed against a section of the wall, making it crumble under the force of my impact.
I felt a few bones crack. Why the hell am I weaker than him?!
"You bastard!" I could feel my blood rise to my face because of my anger. Then power coursed through my entire body, filling it with the sheer power of my wrath suddenly dissipitated as soon as I coughed out blood by the litre and my arms collapsed right under me. I gritted my teeth in frustration...
I was now powerless...I looked at my sould counter and sure enough I'm close to really dying with only three souls left...why is it that no matter how many times I die, I can't seem to reach that place again?
Didn't he say that I have to sacrifice something to get my life back?
"Greed!" Grandma Eve drew her gunblade and pointed it at Greed who was laughing hysterically in his place.
"Sheath your blade granny! Know your place!" Greed pointed his blade towards her, "You will suffer the consequences if you meddle! Not that I won't like it!" He laughed harder than before. Frustrating me even more.
Grandma gritted her teeth. What kind of ancient rule did Meister create to bind this powerful child of his with and why can't she disobey it?
She seems to be unable to do so...
Her outstretched arm is visibly shaking in frustration...
"You! Lay your hand on my grandchild and I swear-" she was suddenly stopped by great granny Ciel's overpowering presence that covered the entire place like a cold and sinister shadow.
We turned our attention to her commanding presence, "I made a vow never to intefere with the affairs of the human race..."
"Granny! If you interfere here I swear-" Greed was suddenly forced face-first unto the cracked floor as if gravity was desperately looking for a smooch.
"Silence child...know your place!" Great granny Ciel's face was so dark and dangerous I felt like crawling under a rock or wedge myself in a crevice just to hide from her. Sadly, I was too injured to even move an inch.
"Mother..." Granny Eve mumbled as she sheathe her weapon and lowered her head to show respect.
At the corner of the hall, Lust was in middle of digging out Gramps from under the rubble while muttering under his breath.
"You old...bitch! What...do you think... you're doing!" Greed was struggling under the heavy gravity. For some reason he looks so powerless compared to before.
Granny Ciel snapped her fingers and in an instant, the rubble that buried Gramps instantly crumbled into dust. Revealing a groaning Gramps who started complaining how his back hurts.
Though as soon as he saw his mom(Great Granny Ciel) in beast mode, he ignored all the pain and jumped up to kneel before her.
"Hmph. Children these days..." she walked towards the floor-plastered Greed who is now shouting curses at her. Granny ignored his words as if dismissing it as idiotic prattle and instead, shr kicked him in the face so hard I saw some blood and a couple of teeth fly in the air.
I could not believe my eyes...Greed is so powerless against this woman...
"I know that you take advantage of the ancient vows my husband made us take..." Greed looked at her with such hate, he was gritting his bloodied teeth and was growling at her.
"The vow of indifference...the vow where all of us Dominants must follow. Where we must never interfere with the course of the world no matter what..." she looked at her two children, Granny Eve and Grampa Lucleid, "The price for breaking that is our immortality..."
As she voiced out that line, she sounded so melancholic that it was like she missed being mortal...the question my mind is...was she? I'm too busy keeping in my blood to stay alive...
"Then you are no longer-" Greed was cut-short once again as Granny Ciel stepped on his head, grinding it menacingly under her diamond like high-heel shoe, "But...I was never bound by that vow. I am bound by my own vow..."
Her powerful aura intensified even further. This time, I felt like that the power she used to subdue Greed was just her pulling her punches, this time...judging also by her expression, she wad now half-serious...it sent a harsh chill down my spine.
"I wouldn't mind going back to my mortal state. I've always wanted to return into the arms of my loving husband...but sadly my role here is not done yet..." she fished something out of her pocket, a necklace with an eclipse pendant.
"What...vow you old bitch?!" Greed muttered angrily with his face still planted on the cold ruined floor of the church.
"To protect the bloodline of the Destroyers no matter the cost...in short, to protect my family and to honor my husband's sacrifice..."
I bet she was referring to Meister's last stand before that rabid horde of monsters I saw through the Future Plane...
"That is my role..." in a flash of azure light, she instantly transformed. Her hair grew longer, reaching just below her back, her coat changed color to a deeper but much vibrant shade of blue that suited her now dimly glowing turquoise colored eyes. Her high heels changed into a pair of black high heeled boots.
Her hands were clenched into fists and started blazing into white transparent flames. On her right hand, I could see the glint of a silvery ring on her ring finger. Probably her marriage ring.
Aside from all those things, she now looked really furious yet amidst all that,, she looked really beautiful.
Dangerously beautiful...
and in a clear voice,
"That is my role...as the last living goddess of the ancient Earth..."
