The Aftermath: Sequel to It Was Always You. A Ginny Weasley Fanfic

Chapter 18

Ginny-

The sudden movement made Ginny jump. She looked up and saw James moving trying to open his eyes.

"James it's Mum. Open your eyes." Ginny pleaded with him but then he went silent.

It was as if everything went still, like time had frozen. All Ginny could hear was the small silent ringing in her ears. Small tears appeared in her eyes and one by one they swam down her face.

Ginny then felt a hand touch her shoulder and turned around to see Harry. He immediately pulled Ginny into a tight hug as she sobbed into his shoulder.

Ginny felt like her world was falling apart and she couldn't do anything but sit and pray that James would wake up.

A few days later and still there was no change. Hope was slowly fading away. Ginny had also noticed that Ruby was struggling as well. Every time Ginny would visit the hospital she looked awfully tired and her mascara was slightly smudged giving her the panda eyes look. It was almost like she was slowly falling into depression, a hole that she would struggle to climb out of. That she may be trapped in for a long time. Just like James...

Healers were working tirelessly trying any sort of method to wake James up. Hundreds of Aurors had recovered from their experience and were already back at work trying to figure out who caused the attack a few days ago. So far they had got nowhere but they were 100% sure it was linked to the attack at Hogwarts a years ago. The question is how?

Ginny had a feeling that made her sick to her stomach. She was pretty sure it was Dean but couldn't go about shouting the odds in case she was wrong. However, she told Harry and the rest of her family and they believed her especially Harry. Hermione however wasn't so sure but she would've believed her is Rose hadn't dropped a bombshell 5 minutes before they arrived that she was dating Scorpius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy's son. Ron had a bad face on him all afternoon while Rose rolled her eyes at her parents and Hugo didn't have a clue what was going on.

Everyone else however took Ginny's view into account. Of course her brothers did because they always believed Ginny's views. Normally all the brothers believe each other, well no one believes Ron of course. According to George he's a prat. But Ginny knew that from a long time ago.

Soon an Owl flew in and dropped a letter that was addressed to Harry. He quickly opened it and read through it. He said he had to hurry off and didn't have time to explain.

Everyone else then went back to doing their normal everyday routines. Ginny went back to the Potter Mansion for some rest. She knew that she needed rest more than anything if she wanted to be strong for James.

As soon as she got in she slumped down on the sofa.

Why did it have to me my family? Ginny thought as she rested her elbows one the sofa arm. Why my family out of everyone else? This question had pondered on Ginny's mind for years and it all escapes out of her today.

The screeching of an owl flew into the room and a letter dropped onto Ginny's lap. She teared open the letter and began to read it:

Ginny,

It was Dean. The attack on the department. Everything. Get down to the hospital and tell Ruby. Alert the rest of the family.

Harry xx

Ginny's wand immediately came out her pocket and she produced a silvery patronus that immediately bounced away. She then felt the horrible sensation of apparation as she apparated to St Mungos.

Ginny immediately found Ruby and told her everything.

The news hit her like a ton of bricks and she ran to James' bedside. She checked him over to see if there were any signs of life. But her hand trembling told Ginny that there was nothing without words even coming out of her mouth.

"What happens now?" Ginny asked tears coming thick and fast.

"Switch the machine off. Or we wait to see if there actually is anything. But the chances are small." Tears were already streaming down Ruby's face.

Ginny had no words but she knew what to do. She produced another patronus and soon one by one each Weasley/Potter family member apparated into the room.

No one knew what to say. James was the light and sole of the family, the cheeky one, the troublemaker just like
his grandfather. But now he had ghost like features, hands so pale, a life lost.

There wasn't a dry eye in the room. Everyone loved James in a different, special kind of way. There was a special connection.

And then he opened his eyes.
