I didn’t remember much of that night, though as I thought about it I could put the bits and pieces together into something that made sense, and adding parts that made sense:
I was sitting comfortably by the lake, gazing around at the scenery. I was only slightly suspicious that something horrible would happen, and was fairly certain that it wouldn’t. I decided that I would go home at sundown and looking up at the sky I saw that it was nearing that, but the sky was still blue and the sun still fairly high in the sky.
Despite what had happened the night before, I wasn’t angry with Niall anymore, but I was rather confused. I wouldn’t let myself think about that though, for it would disturb the peace I currently had with the world. I let a small smile break out upon my face. I didn’t let it stay like that for long. That was when I felt the hand on my shoulder; I just figured it was one of the boys, and I looked up, exasperated. My eyes widened when I saw the hooded figure whose face was concealed by a mask. He was wearing gloves, so I couldn’t even tell what his skin color was. No one was at that park that time of day, and so there was no one to call for help. I couldn’t do anything but hope he wasn’t hostile.
No luck: He threw me over his shoulder, his strong hands hardly allowing me to move at all. I found myself tossed in a van and practically tied to the seat with numerous seatbelts and then something that prevented me from speaking and seeing. I heard a few men talking quietly, and angrily, then the shriek of a clearly agitated girl.
If I cooperated, I thought they wouldn’t hurt me, so I sat quietly and wasn’t resistant at all, but rather hopeful. I didn’t have my phone with me, so I couldn’t contact one of the guys. As I searched around my pockets for my phone, the men took that brutally- they knocked me out, and I didn’t remember much after that. I did remember waking up in an empty alleyway, all bloody and scratched up. I felt so tired, and worried considering that it was dark out. My kidnappers were nowhere to be found, so that brought on both a sense of relief and terror. If they were gone, and they left me, they must’ve made good sure that I wouldn’t be found, right?
I felt a wave of tiredness sweep over me, and was brought into sleep by the soft lull of the wind. I had only been awake for a minute or so, and was reluctant to fall back asleep, but it was inevitable.

Waking up once more, I found that I was swaying back and forth, though I was too afraid to open my eyes and see where I was at. The smell was familiar, but I was too groggy to recognize it, too confused. I wanted to go home. Perhaps all of that was simply a dream? I had been getting very . . . stressful dreams lately, which also happened to be extremely frightening.

My heart was beating extremely fast, and I was scared out of my wits. Millions of questions were racing around my head: What if Maddie isn't okay? Was this all my fault? What can I do to make this better? You know, things like that. We were in the hospital by courtesy of Louis, who decided to take this opportunity to drive faster than the speed limit for Maddie's sake. She was still breathing when we arrived, but only slightly. What had happened to her in the first place?
We got her signed into the hospital and she was immediately rushed into a room, since she looked in pretty bad shape, unfortunately. The wouldn't let us in, so I was in a cloud of worry and doubt and a sense of unreality. The uncomfortable hospital chairs didn't bother me any, for I was too consumed in my thoughts.
After an hour or so, the doctor came out. I looked up expectantly at him with a pleading look on my face. I felt as if I was going to cry, I was so disstressed. The doctor looked sympathetic, and incredibly sorry, so that jolted every emotion in me apart from 'happy' and 'excited'.
