Chapter 5

(This chapter is basically bad-a Katherine)
{Katherine's Perspective}
I was sitting by David's bedside, patting a wet cloth on his head. I was still in shock. I couldn't believe Jack would do this. "David, I need to talk to Jack." I whispered, then I shuffled out the door quickly.

I searched high and low for Jack. I knew he wouldn't be at the Lodging house. He would be too ashamed. And frightened. The boys were all mad at him. I finally found him, but I didn't dare approach him. He was talking to two boys. Clarence and Samuel. I remembered them from school, and from what I remembered, they weren't exactly nice. Clarence lifted his fist threateningly. I slowly tiptoed closer, attempting to hear what they were saying.
"Did you beat up the kid or no?" Samuel sighed. "Y-yes." Jack whimpered. I had never seen him more terrified. It was strange, he was usually so brave. Clarence and Samuel must have been worse than I remembered. "Did anyone besides David see you?" Clarence whispered. "Y-yes. Two of my friends. Now all my friends know." Jack sighed. Clarence and Samuel exchanged a look. Clarence nodded slightly, and Samuel lifted his fist. Jack let him swing over and over again. The boys just laughed. Jacks eyes brimmed with tears. I couldn't stand it any longer. "Stop!" I shouted, jumping up from my hiding spot behind the barrels. They all turned to look at me. "Katherine! Go! Before they get you! Just leave!" Jack shouted. "No." I stated, picking up a piece of broken glass. I stomped towards them, anger growing in me. "You. Leave. My. Boyfriend. Alone." I threatened, my glare as sharp as the glass I was pointing at them. The two boys slowly backed away, then ran off. "K-Katherine? That was incredible! I didn't know you could do that!" Jack stood up and hugged me. "What, like it's hard?" I chuckled. Jack released me from the hug, but I pulled him into a kiss. "Now we just need to make sure Clarence and Samuel leave Davey alone for good." I smirked.
