You sat in your small bungalow, one that sat clear on the other side of Isla Nublar and far from the man you had no interest in seeing right now. You were exceptionally torn between what you knew was right and what your heart was telling you. You didn't want to admit to yourself that he was nothing to you when in fact he was your everything. This was simply torture.

You ran your fingers through your damp hair, you had just got out of the shower hoping in vain it would make you fell better. You felt hopeless as you watched the sun set over the large hills of the island. It was true that you and Owen were a thing for a while but something change in him and you were left to pick up the pieces without knowing why he had left you like that in the first place. You couldn't get all of the memories of him out of your head.

You remembered every kiss, remembered how they made you feel and how easy it was to get lost in his blue eyes. You could count reason after reason as to why you loved the man but obviously he didn't feel the same anymore and you were having a hell of a time trying to accept that. You had no choice, at least that's what you thought.

Owen was an absolute wreck when he was alone, drinking more than even he knew he could handle but it made the pain go away for a while. The booze made the reality of his mistake a lot more fuzzy and a lot more like a bad dream than the mess he made for himself. Barry saw this change in him even if Owen hadn't noticed it himself, Barry always saw the things that others did not. That's why he was such a great trainer and friend, Barry was Owen's lifesaver on more than one occasion.

By the time midnight came rolling around Owen was passed out drunk on the living room floor of his bungalow. He slept next to a few dozen empty bottles and a particularly out of place photograph, of you. He had it clutched in his hands and was talking with it before he passed out which made him drop it next to him. Having seen more than enough of the sandy haired mans antics for one night Barry decided maybe it was time to pay you a visit.

At midnight you had curled up on your couch, ready to sleep but before you had the chance and one o'clock came rolling around you heard a knock on your door. Getting up despite not wanting to you opened the door to reveal the friendly but worried face of Barry. You had always considered him a great friend, a great man too.

"Did you need something? Normally you call before you come over, did something happen?" You were worried, he's never visited without calling first or at least without giving you a heads up of some kind.

"It's Owen, he needs you with him right now. He's fine, I mean other than drunk he's fine physically so don't worry about that but I think the two of you need to talk." His dark eyes bore into your skin like two scolding irons and you, reluctantly might I add, nodded.

Getting into the jeep he'd used to get over to your home you decided to press him for a little bit more information because when Owen drank you were normally none-the-wiser. When Owen drank it was a reasonable amount and you had no reason to worry.

"Why does he need me there? I mean he's never needed me around before when he was drunk." You said the last part in a very sarcastic and sour way as you directed your attention the passing dinosaur enclosures.

"Just trust me, I know Owen better than anyone and I know when he needs. . ." His voice faded into the silence before he skidded to a stop in front of Owen's home.

"When he needs someone to be there and I don't fill that role I'm afraid." You had taken the hint but you weren't even sure how you'd talk to him after what he'd done to you.

"He's going to be out for a long time but you can just stick around until he wakes up, he won't mind as long as it's you." Barry gave your shoulders a gentle squeeze and let you into the bungalow where you took in quite a messy sight.

Owen was passed out amongst bottles of beer, the one he had been drinking on was half spilled onto the floor beside his head. His face was clearly red in the dim light of the room, his hair was a mess and matted with beer to one side now, and he was snoring loudly. You began to clean up the bottles slowly and cleaning up like you always used to when he left the place in this kind of mess. As you cleaned and cleaned you came across the old picture you had taken because of Owen. You remembered the day fondly.

~It was a blistering day on the island and your job was to go around the island and make sure all of the animals had everything they needed to stay cool and that meant the Raptors too. You had arrived about the time Owen was giving the audience one last show for the day and you watched him. After the show and the people were directed to another exhibit you made your way up to the spot he was standing. You remembered how hard he tried to impress you and how he had managed to get a picture of you as you watched the Raptors.~

You were so angry at the time but the more you looked back on it the more you loved it. This moment was the one where you had fallen in love with the sandy haired goofball. You were now sitting on his couch with that picture in your hands waiting patiently for the sleeping man at your feet to wake up.

When morning came you had long since fallen asleep with the picture falling down into the floor again. You woke up to the sounds of the coffee pot perking and the shower running. Looking around you remembered why you were here but you don't remember having a blanket on before falling asleep and came to the conclusion that it was Owen that had put the blanket over you. You didn't move but waited for him to return to the room you were in because you still needed to talk to him.

"I see you're awake." He offered you his coffee cup and you declined it sitting up properly now.

"Owen," You started but he bet you to it.

"I'm sorry, I mean I know that isn't much but I am. No one deserves to be treated the way I treated you, the way I left you like I did. I shouldn't have, It was wrong for me to do that to you and even though sorry is never going to be enough to apologize for what I've done to you, I am. I love you, I really do and even though I've not shown it often enough I do love you." He noticed the picture on the floor and picked it up.

"Remember this day?" You nodded as your throat started to tighten and your eyes began to get watery "I want to go back to this, back to when everything was happy and we were together. I know I'm asking a lot of you and I'd understand if you want to take things slowly but," He grabbed your hands and looked into your eyes and said "I can't live without you in my life."

For a while your voice didn't work and you were unable to respond to him but he did not move but gave you the time you needed to get your voice back.

"I don't know, Owen, I mean I love you I really do but this has really made it hard for me to start trusting you won't do this again. I suppose you do deserve one more chance though, so, I'll give you one more chance to prove to me you won't run when things get too serious for you." You offered him a small smile and he gave you a crooked grin pulling you into a tight hug.

"I love you" he whispered into your ear.

"I, I love you too, Owen."
