"Hey, I'm gonna head outside and check out the races" I told Nikos. He nodded and smiled, not sensing my panic. I left the room as calmly as possibly then ran down the stairs and out the door to be greeted by drunk guys and music. I pushed through them and headed back to my car. I closed the door and grabbed my phone. I stopped the voice recording and replayed it. You could hear every word perfectly. I sent it to Jake then waited a couple of minutes before I called him. He answered on the first ring
"Elena? Are you okay?"
"Yeah.. No, but is that enough hard evidence for you?"
"Yeah, it's great, I'm sorry you had to go through that"
"Don't worry, please just hurry up and get down here"
"I'm already half way there, see you in a bit" Then I put the phone down on him. Tears started rolling down my cheeks. I couldn't kill Jayden, as much as I hated him, I couldn't kill him. I still loved him. I furiously wiped the tears away. I had to stay strong for this.
Soon, Jake's car came into sight and he pulled up alongside me. I got out and he put his arms round me. I hugged him back
"What's the plan?" I asked as I looked up at him.
"You go along with whatever they want you to do, but obviously don't shoot him" he told me and went back to his car. He pulled out a gun and handed it to me "In case thing's go a little shitty" I nodded, thanking him then turned back to my car. I lifted my jacket and shoved the gun down the back of my jeans
"How do you know to put it there?" I heard Jake ask. I turned around
"I watched a lot of movies and why are you looking there anyway?" I asked and raised my eyebrows as I turned back around. I could just imagine his cocky smile spreading across his face. I got in the car and started to drive to the back of the building, honking my horn to get people out of the way. Eventually we got through and we parked. We stayed put for a moment while people came round with tracker detectors. The back of the warehouse was just as sketchy as the meeting room, with a dusty feel to it and broken glass windows.
I looked over at Jake and he seemed pretty calm. Finally they were done circling the cars and we were told to step out.
"You're going to be cornering this man" the guy who had a go at me earlier said and threw us a picture of Jayden "He'll be in the blue Mustang Shelby with the white racing stripes" he added. We flicked through the photos until we saw the car. I smiled to myself then quickly let it drop. We handed back the photos and stood patiently.
"Nikos will be guiding you to him" De Luca added. They really weren't giving anything away. "Go" he said and we all headed back to our cars.
Nikos took the lead and we all followed. Obviously, the other members of the team would want to be the one to kill him but I wasn't going to let that happen. Calm, Elena, you can do this.
We pulled off into the main part of town and swerved in and out of the traffic. Surely we weren't going to take him out here. We carried on through town until we were on the outskirts. It was pitch black now and there was only a few street lights to light the way. I caught a glimpse of the Shelby and Jakes car veered off so he was following it whilst we were still alongside him. I had to stick to the two other guys no matter what. I noticed the Shelby pull out in front of Nikos and Jakes car wasn't far behind. All of a sudden, the 2 cars stopped in front of me so I slammed the breaks on and got out.
Make or break time.
The other 2 got out and I pulled the gun from the back of jeans. I aimed at their backs and took a deep breath. I tried not to close my eyes as I took the shot. They both fell to the floor. I wasn't expecting it to be that easy to shoot 2 people but I'm sure that I would feel the guilt later. Everything was such a rush. To be honest, I didn't really know what I was doing. I walked through with the gun pointed at Jayden's back. I heard a screech of tires on the floor and I glanced round to see it was De Luca and his boys in a Jeep. I looked back to see Jayden looking back at me.
All my limbs went weak. His piercing blue eyes, tearing down the walls I'd built from the day I left. His hair was flawless and his dress sense was still perfect and I felt myself falling in love with him all over again.
I got a hold of myself and re-adjusted the position of the gun to face him again. I heard a gun cocking behind me then I heard another one and Jakes voice followed
"Don't do it! I swear to god, I'll blow your head off!"
I shifted under Jaydens possessive stare but carried on glaring at him
"Well, I wasn't expecting you to be behind the gun" he said. I wanted to melt at the sound of his voice. My glare hardened "I know you hate me, you might as well just get it over with" What? He really thought I was gonna shoot him? Bastard! I actually wanted to shoot him for that remark.
"You better shoot him, Elena" I heard De Luca's voice behind me. Everything went blurring apart from Jayden's face which was filled with sorrow and regret. It was now that everything slowed down. The longer I stood there, the louder the silence became.
Shoot him, he betrayed you, don't you remember? But he didn't, he was caught up in it Yes he did, he betrayed you, all his feeling's were fake.
I pushed past the voice in my head and spun round to take fire at De Luca's boys. I started walking towards them as I shot.
"Elena! What are you doing?!" Jake shouted. I ignored him and carried on shooting. Louder shouting stopped me from my killing spree and I looked around. Guys in an FBI started running past me to De Luca and Nikos. I looked back at him as he was being wrestled to the floor. His dark chocolate eyes filled with hurt and pain as he stared back at me. I tore my eyes from him to all the bodies sprawled across the floor. I'd killed them all with one round of bullets. I turned around to see Jake in my face
"I needed them alive, Elena, I needed them alive" he shook me as he said it. I walked out of his grip back towards my car. A figure caught my eye and it was Jayden, stood in the exact same place as when I approached him. I stopped for a moment and looked at him with a blank, drained face. He returned the look with a hint of concern then I turned and carried on walking to my car. I'd done what I came here for, now it was time to go home.
I'm not sure about this chapter? What do you think? Were you expecting Elena to go running into his arms? I hope you did but what will happen to Jeyena? Time will tell, please let me know what you think to this chapter by dropping a comment, thank you guys for the support, it may not be a lot but I'm grateful, thank you :)
