It's been a year since the catastrophe of V8 in California. I moved back to Texas to restart my life and I moved back into my old house. I got a job at the local garage and I was living a normal life.
-
The grocery store was full of people today, which wasn't normal. I grabbed all the stuff I needed and rushed to the checkout. I paid then left. Luckily, I got in before the rush and I headed home. I grabbed the bags and headed inside. I got myself a beer then headed upstairs. I hadn't been in all the rooms upstairs, only my own. There was too many memories. I passed my Mom and Dads old room and I froze for a moment, debating whether to go in or not. Eventually I decided I'd go in.
I opened the door and there was a load of dust everywhere. I wandered into the room and looked around at everything. I dragged my fingers across one of the drawers by the door and I remembered when I cracked my head open when I ran into it playing chase with my cousin or uncle, I couldn't remember. I left the room then I heard the mailbox go. I raced downstairs and outside. I opened the box and took the letters out. I sieved through the letters as I made my way back to the house.
"Elena"
I froze at the sound of his voice and dropped the letters
"Tyler"
-
"Is this real?" I asked as I turned around to look at him. He smiled a shy smile
"Can I come in?" He asked. I nodded, quite unsure. I gathered up the letters and we headed inside. He sat in the living room while I grabbed him a beer. I threw it to him as I sat with him
"I don't drink" he said a set it down on the coffee table.
"You drip, bro" I replied as I took a swig of mine. We both breathed a laugh. Even after all these years, we could still joke with each other. There was a silence
"You survived the crash?" I asked him. He nodded.
11 years earlier...
It was starting to get dark now and I didn't like driving in the dark. Obviously, I wasn't driving, but I didn't like riding in the dark. Me and Tyler were playing eye spy, Mom was asleep and Dad was driving.
Tyler was getting quite sleepy and so was Dad. I could never sleep in the car while it was moving, so I concentrated on keeping Tyler and Dad awake. Eventually, Tyler gave up on trying to stay awake so I watched out the window as the street lights whizzed by. Suddenly, I felt the car veering to the left.
"Tyler!" I shouted and he jolted awake. I shook Dad and shouted his name. Tyler unstrapped his seatbelt and crawled in front of me.
"I love you" he whispered then the car crashed.
-
I woke up with Tyler sprawled over me unconscious and the paramedics trying to pull him off me. I found myself screaming at them, telling them to leave him alone, although I was sure he was gone. Eventually, I let them take him and I got checked over. They shipped me off to care almost straight away. I never got to properly say goodbye to my family, which hurt the most
"They took all of us to hospital, pronounced Mom and Dad dead but they managed to save me, I tried to get in contact with you but the social were so stubborn as to not let me see you, they said 'it would be to much for you'-" I scoffed "-Yeah, exactly, I didn't know what else to do, so I just carried on with my life, until now" he explained. I was kinda shocked by the whole story.
"How did you find me?" I asked after a long silence.
"I saw you round town, followed you home, that sounds creepier than I intended" he breated a laugh "And here I am" he gesturd to himself.
"Shit" I almost whispered and ran over to him to hug him. He laughed and hugged me back. It felt so weird, hugging someone who was supposidely dead. I didn't care really, I was just happy to have my brother back.
"So, Ty, what you been doing all this time?" I asked him. He smiled
"Eh, nothing much" he replied and laughed a little "I got a girlfriend" he said in sing-song. I laughed wildely at him.
"You. Got a girlfriend?" I stifeled a laugh. He smiled at me and nodded. I took a swig of my beer
"Yeah, she's religious" he added simply. I spat my beer out in surprise
"You always told me you would never date someone religious" I stated (AN: This isn't me being offensive to people who follow religious beliefs, It fits my character and the scence so I'm going for it, I don't mean to offend anyone by doing this)
"She different" he replied.
"Sure thing bro" I said and stood up to go to the kitchen. He stood up also to follow me
"Seriously" he objected
"Is that why your not drinking? Cause' she told you not to?" I asked. He shyly nodded "For god sake, you're your own person, Ty, she doesn't control you" I argued. He nodded, clearly not agreeing with me. I sighed
"Anyway, enough about me, I'd much rather here about you" he replied "Boyfriends on the scence? Anyone I need to beat up?" He asked jokingly. My smile faded. All the memories of me and Jayden came flooding back to me.
"Yeah, actually there was someone" I said quietly. He looked at me expectantly "His name was Jayden" I told him. Then I found myself telling him about V8 and everything that happened inbetween.
"Sounds like a pretty bad guy" he replied. Suddenly, all my emotions that I'd been blocking out, hit me in one shot, because I knew deep down he wasn't bad. I started to cry and Tyler suddenly pulled me into him. I'd been blocking out these feelings for so long now that it came out all in a big rush.
Slowly I stopped crying.
"You clearly felt this guy a lot" he replied. I nodded
"And just to think that he bonded with me, built with me then threw me away like a used toy that's not needed anymore..." I trailed off
"But you don't really think that, do you?" He guessed. I took a while to reply and when I did it was only a nod. "You put on a tough act to hide what your really feeling, I still know you Elena, more than you think" he explained with a reassuring smile. I smiled back and desperately wanted to change the subject. An idea hit me
"Why don't we go to a street race?" I asked eagerly. His smile faded like mine did.
"My girlfriend won't approve of it" he argued. I moaned
"Does this girlfriend have a name?" I asked
"Bonnie" he replied.
"Well, I don't care what 'Bonnie' says, we're hitting up a race" I told him and grabbed my keys.
"But I'm a terrible liar" he whined. I stopped and turned around, pointing my finger at him.
"You are... To me, I know you more than you think" I replied and we laughed."Come on, we're going" I ordered and left the house
How's that for a first chapter? Ghost boy? Liking the storyline so far? Let me know with a vote or a comment :)
