We all stand in a far corner of the classroom, placing myself at the very back as Mrs Coalman starts assigning people to seats, initiating from the back row.

There goes my seat.

Friendship groups are split as people are put next to people they hardly or never talk to, causing frowns to set on nearly everybody's face including Mrs Coalman. I wince when Samantha, a werewolf in my pack, whimpers as her mate is forced to sit beside a human female.

The rows of seats are almost filled up except the first and second; Caleb is the first to be placed on the second row, he smiles as he sits, the very few who didn't bother about a seating plan. The few girls remaining straighten their backs and try to catch Mrs Coalman's attention as her eyes rove through us.

I shuffle further into the corner to hide but I seemed to do the opposite effect; her eyes instantly locked on me and I internally beg the ground to swallow me up.

I attempt to reassure my wolf as she fights to stay hidden, anything but sit beside Caleb Anderson, that's way too much attention brought on my part.

"You." Mrs Coalman points to me.

"What's your name?" She asks.

"Cassandra Woods." I murmur, surprisingly without stumbling over my words.

"Beside Mr Anderson, Cassandra."

As one, all eyes turn to me including Caleb as I slowly crawl out of my corner and drag my feet to sit beside him.

"Is she new? I've never seen her before." I hear someone whisper - badly.

"That's the Omega, isn't it?" one of Caleb's friends points out the obvious.

I set my backpack under the table and placed my notebook in front of me.

"Cassandra, it's good to see you again; you new here?" Caleb beams at me.

I shake my head and watch as Mrs Coalman finishes the seating plan,

"I've always been here." I reply.

"Really? I've never seen you." I feel his scent draw nearer as he leans closer.

"I don't really bring attention to myself."

I make the mistake of looking from under my cap, up at Caleb and I'm disarmed by his proximity.

"Well, with that hat covering most of your face, you've done a good job of that... until this witch of a Chemistry teacher came along and ruined your plans." He smirks.

I find myself smiling back, realising that this mere human teacher scared Caleb more than he let on.

"From now until the end of the school year, the person next to you will be your partner." Mrs Coalman announces.

"I can't complain." Caleb shrugs as the class lets out murmurs of complaints.

I don't fail to notice the daggers some girls, werewolf and human, throw at me; little did they know how much I didn't want to be seated here but another part of me was secretly enjoying the thrill of being beside the Alpha's brother.

This is going to be a long year.

Mrs Coalman takes out a small cardboard box and ruffles small strips of paper around.

"In this box are subjects in which your projects will be based on, you'll research and experiment then at the end of the month, present to the class with your partner." She gestures for the first person on the first row to take out a piece of paper.

"Do you know this means we'll have to hang out, ruining your whole 'not bringing attention to myself' thing?" Caleb nudges me, the badly hidden smile on his face making me want to dissolve into the chair.
